If you have been following us on the website lately you would have noticed an influx of images on the new Norev BMW Concept Series.  Cars include the BMW Vision Next 100, M1 Hommage, and recently the 328 Hommage, all three exclusive BMW dealer editions.  If you know me you know I love concept cars, so I decided to at least put one underneath the microscope. I think I saved the best for last, the 1:18 BMW 3.0 CSL Hommage.  All the models mentioned here were manufactured by the French company Norev.  To date each was developed in diecast, all sealed, but with steerable wheels.  Each Hommage car box comes dressed in some very unique graphic art work, could be very desirable someday…  Maybe I should have taken some photos LOL.

From the exterior view the BMW 3.0 CSL Hommage is the largest of the bunch and also the heaviest by far.  The exterior paint is Yellowish/Green in colour.  Application is well done and consistent throughout.  There are elements of Black throughout the exterior, each completed well.  The stripping along the side of the car shows the 3.0 CSL Hommage logo, in my opinion adds a very sporty feel to the model itself.  All windows are tinted too.  You can definitely see elements of the classic CSL design.

The front is a marvel of design with the raised arches on each tire. Centre grille is chrome, lower circle opening are crafted with perforated grilles too.  Headlight are decent in execution.  If you shine a light on them a bluish hue will appear.

The rear is marked with the large wing, it is found in a fixed position.  3.0 CSL Hommage body-lines might come to a finish here but execution is solid and executed well.  Taillights are painted, and lower grilles are solid bits.

The wheels are huge on this model.  Finish is completed in Black and Chrome, execution is well done.  Behind the wheel the package is complete with solid rotors and Gold calipers – I like the industrial look to the calipers, very cool.

The BMW 3.0 CSL Hommage is the only model of the series that isn’t 100% sealed.  We have access into the interior via opening doors driver and passenger side.  Norev did a great job in capturing all the elements of the cabin.  Based on photos I studied each area is basically complete, exception is the rear elements behind the seats, but these are somewhat hidden from view anyway.  The downside of the interior is the overall plastic look and feel.  The original has a more appointed and inviting interior, this model is lacking.

Norev even integrated the side exhaust as the photos will show.  The undercarriage is pretty straight forward, nothing really left to mention other than the Chrome exhaust.

As mentioned with an earlier forum post these models aren’t overly complicated or provide the upmost detail, what they do they do well!  If you’re looking for AUTOart Signature quality, I think you should look elsewhere.  These unique pieces along with their unique packaging will become very collectable.  If you’re a fan of concepts cars there is no reason why the BMW 3.0 CSL Hommage and others shouldn’t be in your collection.  Enjoy the pics!
