2022 China Toy Show @ ChengDu (UPDATE)

** UPDATE ** We added 17 more photos.  Brands include Almost, LCD Models and MotorHelix.  Enjoy!

It would be our miss if we didn’t share some of the excitement from the 2022 China Toy Show in ChengDu.  Brands on display include CMC, Almost Real LCD Models and more, each exhibiting goods for their 2023 campaign!  Engaging imaginations and wallets globally.   And what is most striking to us is the amount of metal and full-access replicas heading downstream soon.  This is a treat for veterans of the hobby!

We heard rumours a few weeks back of full-opening replicas of the RUF brand from Almost Real.  Their representative at the time would not confirm or deny such whispers.  And not one but three models are coming!  Fantastic!  The Almost Real Maybach S Class looks sharp indeed, and even offers up four-wheel steering!  Lastly, their long-awaited 1:18 Pagani Cinque Coupe is on full display.  Do the rear wheels look too big?

LCD Models is parading an assortment of McLarens.  Their version of the 1:18 Pagani Zonda HP Barchetta is absolutely stellar!  Note the additional colours too beyond the Carbon Blue.  A good assortment of Japanese classics along with some luxury vehicles is setting sail soon.

MotorHelix is one of the biggest surprises, shifting gears away from the transitional Asian culture the team has unveiled the 1:18 metal and full-access Alfa Romeo Giulia GTAm.  THIS IS MUCH OVERDUE.  Does anyone need a resin and sealed version from BBR?  My model is for sale!  MotorHelix also plans to release the 1:18 Alfa Romeo Giulia GTA too.

2023 is looking to be a stellar year for variety, competition and diecast metal with opening bits.  Knowing where to invest your money isn’t going to be all that easy with the ever-escalating price point.  We’ll help as much as possible with news and reviews.  Enjoy!

The beauty of capitalism and free market economy! I hope AutoArt are watching closely how it’s done, while fabricating yet another Huracan version.

  2. Elias says:

As a Dutch, I admire the free market in China very much.

I can spot welcome novelties for my wishlist. Thank you for sharing!

Thanks for the report on things to come. Viewing this array of die cast metal with full openings does indeed evoke the heyday of collecting. That Jaguar XJ looks spectacular and those Almost Real Porsches… Do I need another 911die cast? Yes, I believe that I do.

    • Porsche993 says:

Those Porsches are actually Rufs. The real cars don’t use/borrow anything from Porsche unlike those from Singer and Guntherwerks.

  6. SPONGE says:

Those Zonda’s ! Absolutely sold on both of them. Glad to see LCD is planning other colors for their Roadster BC too !

  7. Amin says:

I’m waiting for Paganis. Full access opening . Specialy metal on the contrary to auto art with unsatisfied composit toys.

  8. Zack says:

I’ll be honest, the opening picture with the Mercedes, I honestly thought it was one of the 1/1s manufacturers have outside their booths at the Nuremberg Toy Fair. I know a lot of people say “oh I thought it was real” but my goodness, I really did think that was a real car. Their company name’s accurate. :)

Of all the models I had a chance seeing up close AR ones were the most impressive to me. Modern Autoarts are crazy accurate shape-wise but the fact that AR can pull off these shapes with metal castings is a serious feat.

  9. Vernhardur Bergsson says:

I have been looking all over the internet for a display box like that, the container with light,, does anyone know where to find it ?

  10. Vitaliy D says:

There are nice new photos of the yellow Porsche on the Facebook page of Almost Real.

  11. Piotr Cichosz says:

Cannot believe you’ve written it and have not mentioned the FREAKING OPENING SUPRA even once ;)
