REVIEW: UpScale Diecast | Spark Porsche 991 (992) GT3 RS

It’s no secret that Porsche commands attention – whether it’s the latest 911 tearing up the track or a finely crafted replica sitting proudly in a collector’s display. So, when UpScale Diecast reached out to offer us one of their limited-run Porsche 991 (992) GT3 RS models for review, the answer was an easy yes.

Based in Auburn, California, UpScale Diecast partnered with Spark to produce this exclusive series of sealed resin GT3 RS models. The lineup includes four striking Paint to Sample colours: Gulf Orange, Yachting Blue, Oak Green, and Oslo Blue – each limited to just 125 pieces worldwide. Priced at $289.89 USD, every model comes individually numbered, emphasizing the exclusivity of this collection.

Even before unboxing, the experience feels premium. The outer packaging mirrors the colour of the model inside – a thoughtful and elegant touch. Each car is securely mounted on a display base and enclosed within a clear protective cover, making it ready for display straight out of the box. Our sample arrived in flawless condition, a testament to both UpScale Diecast’s packaging design and quality control.

Our review piece came finished in Oslo Blue, and truth be told, it’s the one we were secretly hoping for. The deep, rich tone suits the GT3 RS perfectly, accentuating the car’s sculpted lines and aerodynamic aggression. Photographs hardly do it justice – the paint has a depth and sheen that’s best appreciated in person.

Spark’s craftsmanship shines here. The paint application is flawless, with precise transitions between body panels and clear-coated carbon fibre sections, including the front bonnet, mirror caps, and the massive rear wing. The GT3 RS side decals are sharply executed, enhancing the visual authenticity.

Up front, perforated grilles and the functional-looking aero elements on the hood show Spark’s dedication to realism. The headlights, complete with micro Porsche branding, are another highlight – tiny details that truly reward close inspection.

The wheels and braking system are equally well executed, capturing the aggressive stance of the real car. The yellow brake calipers – proudly wearing the Porsche logo – provide a perfect contrast to the Oslo Blue paintwork. Even the air valve stems are present, though one minor omission is the lack of branded tire sidewalls.

At the rear, the towering wing dominates, as it should. Spark deserves credit for replicating even the smallest aerodynamic support structures. Though presented in a fixed position, the component detailing is excellent. The lower diffuser, rendered in composite-style finish, mirrors the 1:1 car beautifully.

Inside, the black cabin is subtly detailed, featuring White stitching highlights and Weissach RS logos embroidered on the seat headrests. Spark goes beyond typical resin standards with more defined dashboard contours, center console details, and visible carbon fibre textures that elevate the overall realism.

UpScale Diecast and Spark have delivered an impressive homage to the Porsche 991 (992) GT3 RS – a model that embodies both precision and passion. The combination of rare Paint to Sample finishes, meticulous detailing, and limited production numbers makes this a highly desirable addition for serious collectors.

If you’re looking for a centrepiece that celebrates Porsche’s racing DNA in 1:18 scale form, this GT3 RS should be near the top of your list.  Enjoy the pics!

What a coincidence, today just a few hours ago and before I read this article, I purchased the exact same model car, in silver, from another manufacturer. The GT3 RS was in my mind for some time now and I finally decided to pull the trigger. A very beautiful model!
