Almost Real Mercedes-AMG GT R

The wait is over, as of next week the team at Almost Real will be shipping out their version of the 1:18 Mercedes-AMG GT R.  Almost Real has completed the replica in good-old diecast metal with opening parts.  Two colours will be initially released, Matt Green and the brilliant Silver.  Suggested retail $188US.  What are your thoughts?

    Hi.
I just went to the almost real website and the green version is not there. Only silver and red. Do you why the green is posted on their website. The other have a posting with pictures coming soon. I figured if they are going to start shipping out next week, it would be there.

    Thanks

Almost Real used struts on the trunk! Minichamps couldn’t even be bothered on the signature doors of the SLS and 300SL.

It makes me cringe every time I walk by my display only to notice their toyishly gigantic dog legs.

Nice, I have it on pre-order, just like the Camel Trophy Defender. But not even that has been delivered here in Europe. We´re left months behind by AR.

    • Lausambaychua says:

You still haven’t even got your dirty version of the Camel Trophy yet? Damn, I’m feeling lucky for once.

      • Karsten says:

The “clean” version has become available, the dirty version not. So in fact, there is nothing underneath my christmas tree this year. All the cool stuff was released in summer/autumn and not followed up. I remotely remember wise guy Spikyone boasting that most of AR models would be out 2018 and we were all cynics to be sceptical. Unfortunately, it looks as though I was right.

Not as good as I expected, but still being my option over the Autoart, the metal part who open/close the door and the panel gap of the trunk and doglegs are enought to wait for a 100-130€ price.. I will not pay the release price or as much as I paid for the Ranro (150€ at carmodel blackfriday).

And as much I like the die-cast material, I hate to admit Autoart´s GTR will be better at panel gaps, which bother me a lot for the price 188 bucks is a lot for that quality, It looks like an advance minichamps.. ¿Same mold?

I hate the jump of less quality from the Perfect Ranro to this AMG GTR.. but still no better option today..

    • DS Team says:

Agreed. we thought it would be slightly better. It doesn’t have the raw appeal of some of their past releases.

      • Karsten says:

Let´s hope they don´t become lazy already. I´m not too bothered about this AMG GTR as such (although I was hoping for a better replacement for my Norev), but I definitely want top notch quality for the Mulsanne Grand Limousine. After such a loooong wait, it would surely be disappointing if shortcuts were taken.

      @NERO,
Seeing how much you dislike the “doglegs”, I bet you already dislike the 2019 Bentley Continental GT for its giant “doglegs”. Check the time mark of 10:23 in this video: https://youtu.be/EoDf3aUI5dw
Absolutely unacceptable for the price of $250000! :)

      • Nero says:

Pointless argument, compare the same car… I said “doglegs” not in the sense the car got doglegs, just in the sense they are awful comparing with the real ones..

I said too, is the better option today IMO over the Autoart even with better panel gaps..

      • Vitaliy D says:

        OK :)
My point was to illustrate the “doglegs” question by applying it to real life. Do the giant “doglegs” of the 2019 Conti GT’s trunk’s lid make the car less luxurious? Or do it make the car’s engine or chassis worse? I believe no. It is a great car, disregarding of whether it has “doglegs” or not.
And I believe that the same approach applies to car models as well.
Let’s compare this AMG GT R model to the previous sport car model by Almost Real – to the Conti GT3-R.
The AMG GT R model has better engine details, better working suspension details and better interior details. As far as I can see, in all aspects it is better than the GT3-R model. So I’d like to say thanks to Almost Real for what they have already done. And I believe they will continue to do even better.
