Just posted something on Rolls-Royces in weird colours. This one falls in the same category in my opinion.
It definitely falls into the same category as a matter of course, as an edition like this directly is meant to compete with the extravagance of a Rolls Royce. This is not an S-Class spec for people who don´t wish to stand out, this is for customers who do want the same attention as in a Rolls Royce. Virgil Abloh was a designer for Louis Vuitton, hence this is meant to go with a fashion-minded occupant´s LV monogram bag.

By the way, buyers of the real Virgil Abloh Edition were given a box with a 1/18 scale model of it. By the looks of it, that seems to be the Norev version, not this better AR.

I like this one better… the midnight colour and rims matching the top rather than the bottom. As well as the clean white interior. Now if almost real can replicate the patterns of the interior….
… yes, that will be quite a challenge! But if anyone can do it, it´s them! Exterior is no problem. They have a two-tone with nautical blue upper half already. On that, I donot like the lower silver, though, as it drowns out to much of the chrome.
I hope, AR will master the challenges involved and give us the Haute Voiture.
Since you mentioned the Haute Voiture Edition, just want to remind you guys that the Haute Voiture Edition was made in 1:64 scale as an exclusive for China Toy Expo 2023, and the Virgil Abloh in 1:64 was an Exclusive for the earlier Hobby Expo China 2023, so yes the Haute Voiture is definitely coming in 1:18!
Thanks for sharing this piece of great news! I agree that a 1:64 offering is a clear indication that we will get the Haute Voiture in 1/18 too. It was the same for the other bicolor Maybachs: Seeing the rubellite red and kalahari gold one in 1/64 gave me confidence that it would be made in 1/18, which it then was. That´s why I refrained from buying the initial black, white and silver models.
The Mercedes Maybach S680 will be the first car in my collection that I will then have in four different colour specifications.
