Another stunning piece is available from the Amalgam 1:8 scale series, this is the Ferrari 512 BB LM (1979) Daytona. Access to the rear and interior are part of the package, and the results are quite good. All this comes at a price, about $13,000 US. Most of us will need to admire from afar.

For a lot less money you can still find the old 1/18 scale BBR model for sale online. Die-cast and fully opening (even the front hood). You just need to be satisfied.
Although I am not a fan of Amalgam for a number of valid reasons, I will say that you really can NOT compare a 1:18 scale model to a huge 1:8 scale piece with an extensive amount of detail. They both present very differently, and are for two different groups of buyers & collectors.
You are absolutely right, but seeing as this costs as a real used car, I would expect not only the front hood to open, but the fuel cap as well and whatever else can be opened.
I don’t know if you remember the old 1/8 of Pocher … they were classic cars in kit form. They cost a lot of money, much less than that anyway, and they had incredible detail. All the parts were movable and openable, and I emphasize ALL the parts. And in any case, I think the BBR has nothing less … I don’t know if you’ve ever seen it up close, but I guarantee you it’s incredible.
