AUTOart unveils the next production colour of their upcoming 1:18 McLaren 720S, this one is called Azores Orange. Overall it’s a positive yes; carbon accents and Black wheels definitely help polished the exterior. This example is due in October 2020.

The smoke color wheels are taking away the looks of the model. They should have made the wheels silver like the white version that’s being released. They’re just not translating well with the shape of the car in the side view.
Completely agree, the silver wheels didn’t suit the white one either – weird choices by AutoArt. I’m not convinced by making the brake calipers the same colour as the body either; it actually looks slightly mis-matched on this. You could swap the wheels and brakes with the white one and both versions would look better.
I hope they do the Red version right. No Smoke black wheels.
Scheduled colours:
McLaren 720S, Glacier White/Metallic White
McLaren 720S, Memphis Red/Metallic Red
McLaren 720S, Paris Blue/Metallic Blue
McLaren 720S, Azores/Metallic Orange
Wow, I was thinking the complete opposite. With black accents adorned across the body, I think the darker color of the wheels is most suitable here and really looks great. On the Glacier White counterpart, I think the silver rims give a nice definition to the wheels that balance out the top part of the model (the body) with the lower part. I think it really flows nicely. Not to mention, this Azores Orange has a metallic copper look to it, and from a design perspective, it is said to not mix different colors of metals as they would clash. Ex: no copper with silver, gold with silver, and no gold with copper. I’m really impressed by the complete package here.
I also agree. The only angle I like is the front and it is probably due to not seeing the wheels. This will be the first Mclaren I buy that is not Orange. 😢. To each their own I guess. I do love the white though!
A few thoughts:
I for one am glad they went with the stealth window surrounds. I’ve never been a big fan of the chrome surrounds on the 720S. Ditto the stealth finish wheels with this exterior color.
Call me crazy, but… do the brake calipers actually match the body color? The calipers look a bit brighter, as if they tried to re-create an Azores Orange body with McLaren Orange calipers, which WOULD be weird.
Also, why do the roof panels look black in the overhead, but clear in the photos that show the door open?
LOVE the color of the wheels as it matches the carbon that is on the car! If Mclaren made smoked wheels it’s because they fit🤷🤷🤷
What’s the go with the weird tyre tread pattern ? They look like snow tyres or something ? Not that I’ve ever actually seen a snow tyre in person living here in Australia.
