An AUTOart classic, the 1:18 Toyota 2000 GT comes back for another dance. The Red exterior is mated to metal wire-spoke wheels. With full access and a nicely appointed engine and interior, this model should do well. We reviewed traditional rim design back in October 2018, review HERE.

I’m sure this is composite again, no thanks , it would be different if diecast
It is. Don’t be quick to judge, this example isn’t rubbish at all.
Great model, but a composite and this destroys any desire to acquire it. I have a Toyota cast in metal and I am very pleased. It’s a pity that Auto Art has stopped producing diecast metall models – it’s a pity.
I have the upgraded die cast version in silver with the regular wheels. my opinion is, the composite has, of course, tighterpanel gaps, as usual, especially at the front around the bumpers, but looks a bit heavy on the side. Examining a side shot of the real car in red on the web and the real car doesn’t appear to have such a big step between the main body and the overhangs both front and rear. I appreciate they added better detail to the side compartments, but they could’ve upgraded the wire wheels too. They look like a carry over from the previous die cast model, and they were a weak point on that model too, in my opinion. I know that I went for the standard wheels instead for that reason. I noticed also the lenses on the fixed headlights under the transparent fairings are way too transparent and look like modern polycarbonate headlights covers. I would add that the upgraded die cast model being a Millennium is overall a very good model, actually better than several lower tier signature releases by Autoart, in my opinion that is.
Great insight, thanks for sharing.
I have this car and it is very solid and feels good in the hands, the wire wheels are fine and are metal and not plastic. There is nothing wrong with a composite body as I have several composite bodied AUTOart vehicles in my collection. The detail of this car is very good especially at the price point. The engine detail is very well done as is the interior. This car just has a quality solid feel to it and it looks great as well. The doors, hood, rear hatch and the two front fender compartments are all solid and smooth feeling.
Myself I like these composite bodies on the AUTOart vehicles. While AUTOart needs to improve their interior detail on their products this 1966 Toyota 2000GT is a fine example of what AUTOart is capable of doing.
