AUTOart @ Shizuoka Hobby Show 2021

It seems social distancing practices aren’t stopping the scale model passion in Japan. The latest edition of Shizuoka Hobby Show 2021 is on its way, and news from the floor highlights a major contributor to the hobby, which would be AUTOart. The photos here showcase some of the newnesses we all should be experiencing throughout 2021.

A few notables we like are the McLaren Senna, doors open! How can a static representation hold a candle to full access? We’re not sure! A first for AUTOart is the Lamborghini Jota, it looks wonderful in its transformer state. Not to take anything away from Kyosho’s version, but AUTOart does hint a little more refinement in the motor department, specifically the exhaust workings from what we can see. The Lexus LFA is making a comeback, this time is composite. Are you game?

It feels like AA are starting to get their mojo back. I’m not saying any of these are perfect, but some of their early composite models were a bit unrefined (caused by design choices rather than material). I recently bought the Memphis Red McLaren 720S and it’s lovely; the Senna in those pics looks very good too. I appreciate that the car itself divides opinion!.
The old Kyosho Jota is a classic and I won’t be replacing mine, despite its minor paint rash, but if I were buying one now? I agree with you guys, that AA version seems to be a better model.

Lastly, the McLaren MP4/6. It looks excellent. Depending on price, that’s the one I’m most likely to buy from everything that’s shown here.

I am very impressed with the engine detail on the red Nissan, the rest look sharp too, wish they can produce the classic NSX, that will fit perfect with the MP4!

I like MP4/6 very much, but the hub can’t be disassembled. I’m a little disappointed
