AUTOart’s Ford GT is Coming!

Love or hate the brand, the team from AUTOart does complete some delicious scale models.  The team has been hinting at the upcoming release of the 1:18 Ford GT.  Well, that time is now!  AUTOart officially released photos of the production version featuring Shadow Black with Orange stripes exterior.  And it looks like a winner!  Mucho details at multiple angles, 360 access and the Ford GT, what more could you ask for?  We should see this one in North America sometime in August/September.  We can’t wait!

I am still somewhat on the fence about whether to replace my Maisto limited edition liquid blue with white stripes with an AA or not. Although I have given AA credit for the wide clour choices they offer, regretfully their liquid blue is offered without stripes and I am not getting warm with any of the other colours. The Maisto is not a bad effort at all apart from the solid plate air intakes. But sacrificing the stripes for that? If AA do the liquid blue with racing stripes, it automatically becomes a nobrainer to me.

The one to get. 360 access, good finish and detail…

Everything looks good except the engine details, which are rather disappointing.

I looked online for photos of the engine bay. The AA “look” of the bay is super similar to photos that are online of the 1/1. Don’t quite understand the above concern. Had AA optioned to allow the removal of the engine coverings then -of course- the engine would be much more visible. On my list as well!!

You know, AA has been under fire from all the same people (most times) for being Too plasticky, not enough engine details and what have you. Honestly for the last 10-15 years all manufacturers of actual cars we drive have been putting all kinds of plastic covers over the engines and hoses and wires much more concealed than they were before, same thing for the underside for better aerodynamics. So take these complaints as generic for the most part.

Well from the pic of the back, you can see that the mirrors are not correctly aligned, I hope that won’t be a common issue.

Im still deciding on whether to continue searching for a Maisto red heritage edition(which i cant find one here in south africa) or to order a AA version

    • Karsten says:

if these are the options, definitely go for the AUTOart. I’ve got the blue Maisto heritage, so you can compare the pictures.

      • Karsten says:

Sorry, not the heritage edition, but Maisto exclusive in my collection, of course. Still, you could hope for AA to release a heritage edition, not impossible. They will definitely exploit the mould as much as they can.
