BBR Confirms Ferrari F50 Coupe

BBR confirms the 1:18 Ferrari F50 Coupe will return on their Project 18 series.  The model is executed on the 1995 platform car.   Three colours are on tap, they include Black, Yellow and Red.  Production will be limited to 359 pieces for the Red, while Black and Yellow will only see 99.  No word on the official release date at this time.

About the Ferrari F50…  “Created to celebrate Ferrari’s 50th anniversary, the F50 was the closest thing to a road-going Formula 1 car the company had ever built. Given its uncompromising, purist approach to high performance, the F50 was devoid of power steering, power-assisted braking and ABS, but made extensive use of sophisticated composite materials, F1-style construction technology and aerodynamics.  The number of the card to be produced was decided by a marketing study which forecasted 350 possible customers around the world, willing to buy such a car. The number was then reduced to 349, in accordance with the teachings of Enzo Ferrari who claimed it was the perfect production number, that is, equal to one copy less than the total required by the market.”

Bit late to the party on this one BBR. Now if they announced this in diecast, that would have my attention.

Well, tbh, it’s never too late create this car in resin or diecast. Up until now the closest “acceptable” model of the F50 came from Looksmart, but they still had their issues when it came to accuracy. This is great news for fans of the F50.

First, big thanks for your website, keep going!

Collecting since 20 years I always ask myself why Kyosho never made a 1/18 F50 ! they perfectly made the f40, classic, lightweight, hi end… but they never did the f50. Do you know why?

    thanks

The golden era of Kyosho/Ferrari was great! We think the focus changed to save the R/C division. Scale model side was placed on the back burner, which is yet to recover to what a fabulous replica in scale Kyosho could produce.

Fully opening model? Being the F50 my favourite car, I’m interested! Cheers!
