Bburago New 488 Challenge Formula Race

Control your excitement, this isn’t crafted in 1:18 but 1:24.  New is the 488 Challenge Formula Race car from Bburago.  This is fine for those who collect 1:24 but what about the 1:18 scale assortment?  What the brand Bburago is doing with its Ferrari licence is shameful.  Should we gather in numbers and petition Ferrari to revoke the licence or at the very least issue 1-3 models via the Signature series per year.  Is this too much to ask for?

    Peter says,

BBURAGO,is for kids and not for collectors, same on you BBURAGO.
They make toys for little kids.

    Peter.

In the eyes of a CMC collector, your 1/18 Hot Wheels Elite Ferraris are kids toys. And in the eyes of a 1/24 collector, the world famous 1/64 hot wheels cars collected by millions worldwide are “crap” as well (even though plenty of adults collect them, keep them in blisters, and hunt for rare ones that cost a lot). So please leave your ignorance at the door and dont hate on other scales you dont collect.

    • Louis says:

Not all of us can afford 100 car collections at $500 a model. Quit complaining or remove Bburago from the site since it isn’t a true model car.

      • DS Team says:

You are mistaken. Bburago is a model car. Their entry-level is okay for the casual collector, however, when the brand bids for the Ferrari licence and wins and then does less than the bare minimum with their Signature series there is room for complaint. Our team will also make room from Bburago, though they need to wake up and USE that Ferrari licence. Easy as printing money!!!

Bonjour , bburago ne mérite pas d avoir la licence Ferrari , c est une honte ce modèle aurait pu être intéressant au 1/18 , mais pas au 1/24 .

  3. Marcel says:

I think a petition is quite in order here. Please proceed!

  4. James Cage says:

More trash from Bburago! Well done Ferrari for letting this company produce utter trash for your amazing historic marque!!!!!!

  5. Aaron says:

Shameful for Ferrari licensing not going to Autoart

  6. Peter Humphries says:

It really is awful that Ferrari have given the license to Bburago. To date they have produced NOTHING at all to replicate the magnificence of this amazing and historic car brand. It really is a crying shame for all of us who love this hobby. A manufacturer like Norev could produce models of far superior quality than the complete and utter clueless individuals at Bburago. So sad indeed!

  7. Reinaldo says:

    i want the ferrari 458 gt3 and 488 gt3 1/18, plain color. let’s work burago.

  8. George K says:

Come on now – Nobody should act surprised. Bburago makes toys. Always has.

    • DS Team says:

The Signature Series was to elevate the 1:18 scale samples to a good entry-level collector piece. What has been released is somewhat underwhelming and too far in-between releases. Basically they are underachieving large!

  9. Ilka says:

Oh come on. Who buys CMC or even AutoArt really? 10 people on the planet? and then the models get resold on eBay for double-triple price. What would Ferrari benefit from that? Bburago makes toys, yes. But they do sell.

I’m avid collector, have a lot of Exoto and CMC, but sometimes it needs some reality checking, guys.

    • DS Team says:

No doubt these “toys” sell and their reach is greater than the “collector” community. However, they took over the licence from HWE, they haven’t match HWE pace or level of execution. Today there is a gap in mid-level price point. Bburago, Bburago Signature is NOT meeting the demand.

      • Ilka says:

Did they really “took over” like evil corporation, or it’s just Mattell didnt feel like the license cost is worth it? The elite’s 458 are still new in stock in some collectible stores, and their quality is insane for their price. Not many seem to be interested.

        • DS Team says:

We can’t comment on the actual process that took place. But one thing we do know having a Ferrari licence is an avenue to print money if done right. As mentioned this brand appeals to more people outside the hobby… As for Mattel, they are a mess and the chips were falling well prior to the licence expiry. Truly a shame, as we see it today. I believe Mattel understood the power of Ferrari, and their production runs are legendary which kept price points very competitive with results very good. Does that model work today? We think so…

  10. Reinaldo says:

BBurago could make more ferraris f1 and racing GT 1/18. f1 years 70 and 80. ferraris gt3 458 and 488.

  11. Martin Nilsson says:

Wrong from Bburago. The driver Nielsen is from Denmark. , They have the Finnish flag with his name on the roof.
