ACME is showing off their upcoming 1:18 Shelby GT500 Convertible. The plan is for the production model to arrive in Q4 2022. Diecast metal panels are fit and full access is part of the features. Priced at under $140 US, it should resonate well with Mustang or America muscle car fans in general.
Product# A1801848
This product was originally slated for release in Q4 of 2021 based on the Acme pre-order listing. Pretty disappointing after all this time that this is the extent of production so far. Also, looks like they totally changed course on what they are actually making. 1967 and 1968 Shelby GT500s are completely different. This is clearly a 1967 based on the hood extending all the way to the front and the shape of the vents on the hood. Acme still has a 1968 GT500 convertible up for pre-order, but at this time, there is no mention on their site of a 1967 GT500 convertible being offered.
Acme cannot reach the high quality of GMP in that year.
Many have tried, and many have failed.
Actually, GMP needs to seriously UP their quality control game to match Acme quality as it is these days…
Sadly the real GMP (model manufacturer) doesn’t exist anymore. Now it’s just a trademark owned by Greenshite, so no need to wait for their quality to improve, it won’t happen.
Looking at their FB page, they have both a 1967 and 1968 version photographed.
