Finally a completely new and interesting model from Almost Real! I’d like to see it side by side with AutoArt’s Porsche 911 (930) Turbo Wangan Midnight “Blackbird” – both are nice examples of modern touch of the classic Porsche 911 !
Except the Ruf SCR is *NOT* a 911 and has nothing to do with a 911 at all except for the look.
So true! I just recently discovered that. It’s so unexpected that a car that looks pretty much like a classic Porsche 911 is actually not Porsche at all!
I agree. And this is a good alternative to old spark RUF models.
This almost real model may join my collection, especially if the price stays around 200bucks. I wonder if other colors will be available…
Yes, yellow & white
Different models: yellow is CTR (which has a turbo engine and extra openings under side windows, while green and light grey are STR, i.e. naturally aspirated models…
Thanks for the insight!
Such a missed opportunity. My favorite model car brand takes a classic Porsche on a
workshop… Sort of. Because it’s a 964-like hideous RUF with strong early 2000s tuner vibes. Changes for the sake of making something different, with no regard to actually making it better. That rear light overlay being the best example. The interior is strangely pleasant for a RUF, but overall, visually it represents everything we’ve moved past years ago and for a good reason. Such a waste of effort IMO.
The real Ruf SCR does *NOT* have any parts from any classic 911 unlike what restomod companies like Singer, RWB and Guntherwerks do. It is technically not a 911, it just looks like 1. All parts were manufactured by Ruf, including the engine. If you look closely the gas cap is located by the passenger’s side rear quarter window, unlike a 911 where it is just above the passenger’s side front wheel well.
Yes, spot on! There is a GREAT YouTube doc recently explicitly aired on the topic. Details how unique this brand is and the level Ruf goes to transform the classic 911.
That isn’t the gas cap below the passenger quarter window. That’s the oil fill flap. The gas cap is under the circular flap on the front bonnet on the passenger side.
