This morning AUTOart unveiled their upcoming 1:18 McLaren P1 GTR in decorated hand-sample state.  Basically the exterior paint and racing tattoos have been installed, giving us a look at the future state production piece.  The P1 GTR is due in early 2017, it features opening doors only from their composite series.

They can’t even brand the tires?

Nice but it’s still made of Composhit. Still won’t buy it. Plastic piece of crap. AutoArt aren’t you guys listening to the buyers. A lot of us diehard collectors aren’t going to spend our hard earn dollar on plastic. Your lost, CMC’S gain

So what’s this going to be? $350 CDN?

Awesome! Cannot wait for other colours, especially the plain ones. I think for sure these ones will be cheaper than the road versions. I would say, around the same price as the C7Rs and Nismo GTR LMs.

Well, the thing that made me don’t want to buy it is that it costs pretty much the same as the standard P1 but in this one you can’t even open the front or the back bonnet! What kind of trick is this?! Even though I really like autoarts I really can’t help but feel a little cheated on this model.

I bought the silver version and whilst I was apprehensive because it is part composite, the build, feel and quality is excellent. I agree it is a little on the high side in price terms than I would expect but the overall package is excellent. I do wish however, that they would stick with diecast metal.
