AUTOart revealed new images of the production version of their upcoming 1:18 McLaren P1 in Volcano Orange today. This is likely the most anticipated colour of the the P1 pack from the brand. Was it worth the wait? We’re not so sure… The P1 has moved from a 2016 ship date to Q1 2017. It also comes from AUTOart’s composite series, and features opening parts with detailed interior and motor.

This is definitely a purchase.
My original colour choice was the Gulf livery which was subsequently cancelled. A store had a pre-order for the P1 about 2-3 months ago. iHad a tough time picking another colour but finally settled for the Volcano Orange. During the waiting period where delivery was tentatively postponed 2-3 times til the store itself wasn’t sure whether it could deliver on its promised dates, coupled with the situation where only certain colours are released from time to time, I got rather indecisive with my colour choice because I had ample opportunity to watch YouTube & browse around for pics of the P1 & I find that the matte white with blue accent is great looking.. so does the ice silver & matte chrome.. not too sure about the red accent with ice silver though but probably acceptable with time. Now I feel that the MSO unit of matte black with red accent looks awesome after I saw the videos of the car.
However, today… the store needed my confirmation as they received stock but only for the matte white & ice silver.. it was down to the last unit of each colour & I had to decide fast.. I opted for the white because between the silver & the chrome, I preferred the chrome (but chrome is yet to arrive) hence the white appealed more to me than the silver. Alas, I was just a little too late… Someone had grabbed the white so I was left with the ice silver. No matter. I’d rather get this ordeal over & done with than having to go thru this colour selection exercise again. I should be receiving the P1 in ice silver in a few days time.
