Another day another AUTOart model. To day were highlight the new 1:18 Mercedes Maybach S-Klasse S600 SWB. This is the SWB? it’s huge! How big is the LWB LOL? Model looks dapper in Silver and execution based on the series of production sample images looks promising as well. However the Maybach S-Klasse S600 SWB does fall under AUTOart’s “composite” series with opening bits. Model is scheduled for 2016 release, no official launch date has been announced.
Product# 76292
The images show a LWB definitely and since Norev already produced a beautiful SWB, it wouldn’t be a smart move.
This is the SWB. The LWB is the Pullman version. The standard S600 is just a Mercedes. Once you append Maybach to the name, you get the above.
If SWB stands for “standard”, this model is not it. In fact, it’s not an LWB either because the rear side windows are wrong. Maybe Autoart can enlighten us here.
When is the Aventador SV come out for autoart
Why must it be rubbish plastic? Come on, AUTOart, come on!
Right. I see my time in this hobby coming to an end. I won’t pay hundreds of dollars for a plastic toy.
Don’t. I just got AUTOart’s Lamborghini Huracan for $330.00 – $300 for a piece of plastic that isn’t even Signature, just comes in a cheap window box and isn’t that well done? Pah!
If AUTOart doesn’t turn around quick smart, then bankruptcy would be what they deserve for their greed.
Totally agree with JS Coleman
Uhh….as memory serves, this beast is a re-run from Auto Art….didn’t they do this about 15 years ago ? I distinctly remember an AA Maybach from ‘back in the day’.
If so, it would be one of the old Maybachs, which required Rolls-Royce money for something which was a thinly veiled and rather glitzy S-Class. This version of the Maybach is all-new.
And the AUTOart Maybach, 15 years ago, would not have been plastic, I assure you. Good old days.
I’m sick and tired of this plastic garbage that Autoart keeps rolling out. Almost every model that I was interested in is composite. They need to clean up their act soon if they don’t want to go out of business.
So it’s been confirmed, The aventador SV will be plastic..

This too is where my collection comes to and end.
Sorry Autoart…will not spend a single cent on your plastic LEGOs.
A shame. Let’s hope they improve on the model!
According to the website, almost all upcoming models will be composite

In that case I wouldn’t feel bad if autoart went down (out of business)… and down into the history books… the way UT did. If they kept up on this track.
Is it safe to assume that the true collectors have at least built one plastic model car in their life time right?.. And as we bought the entry level models such as (Maistos in 1/24-1/18 scales) in early – mid 1990s , they eventually led us to the higher end models like UT, Koyosho, Autoart and so forth???
Now …….for them to offer plastic ABS (LEGO) shells, and sell them for $200 + ($300 in the case of the Vanquish) is an insult to our intelligence/ the quality of cars that we collect……… thanks but no thanks.
If I wanted to buy plastic, I would’ve bought model cars for $20 and painted them myself which wouldn’t even come close to costing $100.
Autoart has inverted their model process…. It used to be Metal DIecast on the outside…. plastic on the inside….. BUT NOW plastic is on the outside, and metal on the inside…….. other than cost savings……. what’s the point They’re still using Diecast metal parts in the wrong place….. Use it where it counts the most autoart…
I was going to buy at least 8 different models of the recently announced cars ( plus different colours for the Aventador sv / P1 / 918) which would’ve been over 15 cars easily… but seeing as how they’re LEGOs.. I guess autoart wont be getting my money then.. :)
It doesn’t even make sense for them to make the sv composite as they already have molds from the previous Aventadors. Dumb move on their part. I agree with you. They’ve completely destroyed what used to be a good company.
I completely agree. As a keen collector of (amongst others car makers as well) high end Mercedes model cars, Autoart has supplied us with many very fine both classic and modern examples including the former Maybach (w240) 57 and 62. When I first encountered the announcement of the new Mercedes Maybach S600 and pullman as well as the 6×6 AMG G-Class I was thrilled.
I am disappointed beyond words to describe how it’s even possible to produce model cars of less quality and at the same time charge a much higher price.
I am NOT AT ALL interested in plastic models, and have never been so since I was 5 years old and my father helped me glue together Revell’s BMW 3 series E30 and a Mercedes W124 230E Lorinser :-) I was a kid back then. Now I’m 37 and you bet I know what I want. Maybe there will only be CMC left to build us authentic high end stuff in the future? Seems to me that Autoart doesn’t really know their customers. We are true collectors and know what’s real quality, not chasing for cheap plastic.
My relationship with Autoart is coming to an end, the same way with Minichamps which also tries to “impress” us with “exclusive” limited production resin plastic models.
Turn around Autoart, real quick, before it’s too late!
Strong words, I’m in total agreement. Let’s hope it’s not the tail end of diecast as we know it.
And what about the price, 350-400€ for a composite model???
Jajajajajaja……
I don’t know what the big deal is , who cares if its plastic they’re still beautiful pieces of art and well crafted, I have the 6×6 and its the composite but the detail is outstanding
I think it more to do with pricing and lack of available finishes. The models overall are very good!
The tail lights look too thin and shallow. I hope this is not the final as well for the headlights. However, I think I’ll go with the True scale Maybach. Let’s see what will it be. And I prefer 100 times GTS than AA because of their interest in customer’s taste. And they will eventually make Brabus Maybach Rocket 900 for about 100€ which will be killer for a third of the price. I don’t care if it’s opening as long as it looks stunning. Wouldn’t pay 2 or 3 times to have an opening stock version in this particular case.
Agree with your opinion, I look the defect of that model as well, the headlights and the tails actually don’t follow the true scale of that car, after competing with the real car,the headlights’ LED bar curve a little bit down along with the edge of the hood ,and the taillights’ reversing part are be removed, I hope it ‘s not the final version of the S600, otherwise I probably wouldn’t pay the bill for it
