CMC has just unveiled new photos of the pre-production painted sample 1:18 scale Mercedes-Benz 300 SLR Coupé with Blue Interior. This variant is based on the Uhlenhaut coupe with chassis number 0007/55 – note the fuel filler neck has passed through the rear window, new to CMC and fans. The supplied photos definitely shine, and a capable piece is heading for production in the near future.

Zinc disease allinclusive?
This is not exclusive to CMC or any brand for that matter.
The interior is made of a lot of plastic materials, and the quality is not as good as before.
I have the original model and am looking at pictures I’ve taken of it right now….the quality and materials look EXACTLY the same. What are you basing this statement off of? Maybe you’re a reseller spreading B.S. because you’re disappointed that your model will now be worth half of what is was once the new batch hits the market.
Well said Roger.
My thoughts also. This looks exactly like mine, which is also one of the originals.
Lots of plastic? I see leather, fabric and metal, actually hard to find any plastic, unlike at ANY other manufacturer.
It is a very good thing, this type of reissues and derivatives, of old models.
It allows to come back to the great quality era of CMC and to “break” the madness of speculation that affects the first editions and prevents the new collectors or those who could not afford, ten years ago, to buy these wonders.
I hope that this will be confirmed on other old prized models (Ferrari 250 GT California, GTO, Bugatti 57SC Atlantic, Corsica, Porsche 901 etc…).
Exactly! I’ve been being interested in the 1:18 300 SLR Coupe for years but rejected mad prices of re-sellers. Now CMC gives another chance to buy this beautiful model.
And I am luckily enough to have the 1:18 250 GT California and can confirm it’s a real gem.
Glad to see that everything is so far back to normal that you are encouraged to add to your collection again. Go for it, Vitaliy! All the best from Germany!
Looks great I’m having one
Something I noticed is the tires are too big, the ones on the original are like the 1:1 version, hope they fix this on the production model.
If CMC did not purposefully make the tires fatter, then atleast we can justify that the racing spec required better grip, hence the fat tires on this version. :P This version is definitely not the Museum version, rather with the rear glass mounted fuel intake, makes it the racing spec. The museum car no longer has that intake neck.
