First Look: CMC Mercedes-Benz 600 Pullman W100

Well it seems the team at CMC is fast at work on their newest model, the 1:18, diecast metal Mercedes-Benz 600 Pullman W100.  Though the images show a model in prototype form they are quite a distance away from traditional CMC execution.  Right the now the model is more in line with opening price point brands such as Maisto and Sun Star.  Do you think CMC will pull this one off?

Showing off prototypes is always a case of ” Damm if you do, Damm if you don’t ”

I personally appreciate CMC are showing the progresses on future releases even if this one still has a long way to go…

To CMC: Please get Ferrari 275 ready before making this behemoth. Thank you.

I have got this on pre-order … for 650 €. So they´d better deliver CMC quality, not Maisto/Norev. Otherwise I´ll keep my money. I reckon, they WILL deliver on this one. They´ve got a reputation to lose and money when you could just as well buy an old Sunstar Pullman instead.

I’m sure it will have the usual over the top of many parts, and will have many working features…some of which probably will not function well on each model, and it will be impressive in size. But why make this after the models made by AutoArt? With ALL the great choices available of cars yet to be made in model form, this one is not exactly at the top of the list for many collectors, and not a great choice. Personally, I and many car collectors prefer the 600 SWB. So if one of these had to be made, I think that would have been a better choice. Time will tell if CMC made a good choice or not.

Everyone has their priorities. On my wishlist from CMC: A Routemaster London Bus, a Spyker C8 Spyder T.

A pre-war Routemaster would be awesome – and very large! I’ve got the 1/24’s and they’re already large.

  6. Yi Fan says:

The pre-production does not look promising at all.

At that price, it is neck and neck with the AutoART version in the current climate.

Still I will be following this closely as I am keen to explore CMC. At this point, not convincing enough for me to pre-order.

  7. Luis Cantu says:

Worst of all, the red interior. Grey, tan or black would look more elegant. Are there red Dashboard in the real car? I am more in favour of the Autoart Model released years ago

I have been waiting for quite some time to see these sample photos.
There are a lot of things that still need adjustments I believe. Say, the rims and engine features.
According to some sources I read, there will be 3 variants, including a Pullman, a pullman with sunroof and a Landulet.
With CMC’s pricing, I believe it will be very expensive. That said though, my major concern is the quality of the black paint. Black paint is prone to bubbles or rashes so I hope they can find out a way to minimise that.
To me, having the Autoart Pullman and SWB already, I do hope that this CMC will bring this iconic car to another standard. And with AA changing almost everything to composite, I believe I should go for these diecasts when they are still available.

wow the flag pole and misaligned door and panel gap are atrocious. The engine looks totally plasticky as well. They should definitely address those glaring problem as the build quality is currently on par with Sunstar’s W100.. except for some nice details such as the better looking headlights etc..

    • Atalante says:

For every work of art there is draft. You’re commenting an early engineering sample that will undergo many changes are validation steps. Take it as a sneak peek of the development process nothing else. The result will most probably be breathtaking.
