GMP is back with another champion replica, the 1:18 1990 Ford Mustang LX Convertible 7 UP. Do note the primarily photos show the model in pre-production hand sample, which holds well for the final production piece. The Ford Mustang LX Convertible 7 UP carries some differentiating characteristics from other Mustangs of the period. These include Deep Emerald Green Clear coat Metallic Paint (code PA), colour-keyed body side moldings, fascia moldings and side view mirrors, White leather interior, White convertible top, and 15″ GT aluminum wheels. As an added bonus, the model will also include a “Dealer Planning Guide” booklet and a copy of the the original contest signage/card – we’ve included a image below. Model will be released in September of this year. Retail is suggested at $139.95US.
About the Mustang 7 UP… “The story behind the 7 Up Mustang is one of the more bizarre bits of Mustang history, which is saying something given the wide range of characters who have been involved in the nameplate’s development over the years. Initially, only 30 7-Up Mustangs were meant to be produced – the namesake soft drink company had planned to give them away at the 1990 NCAA basketball finals. The pitch was simple: sink a ball from center court, and you could drive home one of the extremely limited-edition cars that night. For reasons unknown, the 7 Up contest was cancelled at the last minute. Although only two of the planned 30 cars had been produced, Ford decided to re-brand the cars, bump up production to 5,000 units and offer them as a special edition and unofficial commemoration the car’s 25th anniversary. ”

Cool piece. Engine detail looks good, dash hopefully gets improved.
At $139.95US, the dash will be improved.
I own one of these cars, #1764 of 4103. Been waiting almost 20 years for this model to be made.
Awesome!
How did you find out what number your car is
I will be getting one of these. I actually turned down a brand new one in High School from my Grandfather (As I wanted a Supra, but I ended up with his 4 year old Audi 5000CS instead. That said, I’ll finally be getting one in 1/18th scale :)
GMP is spot on! Own quite a few of other fox diecast from them, cant wait to add this to the collection.
Will you can you also make a 5 speed option?
Where can you get one of these. My husband has the real thing and I would like to get him the diecast model also.
They’re not out yet, but when they come out in September (hopefully), you can just type the name into Google search and I’m sure it’ll give you many links where you’ll be able to buy one.
Thanks
I have 1 of the 1326 5 speeds and would like to buy one of these. Please reach out to me 954-309-9272. Thank you, Scott
