Diecast Society should open a survey to find out who might be interested in buying such models. Personally, I find them shocking ugliness!

I’m not sure how many people would be interested in such models to start by doing so many different molds of basically the same, which as far as I know are also fantasy vehicles. But what concerns me the the most is that they look like 1:43 or even 1:64 models, the tires are horrendous, there’s an overall lack of definition (look at where the overfenders meet the rest of the bod), etc.

The Manga version of disneyfied Volkswagen.

Yet, there are more and more on the market. Autoart is also dedicated to these “cars”, along with other manufacturers of resin models. It comes naturally to me to ask myself why to spend money to produce new molds for these models, when there are thousands of cars never reproduced that would delight many collectors (for example, Lancia coupes, many British cars, several Ferraris and Maseratis, a huge number of US cars …), certainly more salable than similar chips of nature. What a mystery …

I’m a VW fan, and try to collect at least one of every manufacturer’s version of one, but this leaves me cold. No thanks.
