KengFai 1:18 Toyota Vellfire

Not sure who gets excited by a minivan in scale, maybe the Asain community can explain?  Nonetheless, KengFai has unveiled their version of the 1:18 Toyota Vellfire.  If you can’t appreciate the subject you can appreciate the full 360 access with details that goes above and beyond.  A Black and White exterior is in the works along with LHFD and RHD options too.  Both models will arrive in July 2021.  Suggested retail $169 US.

It seems like they are just milking their Alphard/LM300h body mold (with obvious cosmetic changes) with this offering. And I’m not a hater because I actually added an LM300h to my collection.

Hate is a strong word… No hate here, just questioning sales behind a minivan.

Agreed. While I think ONE of these might be a cool novelty piece for a collection, I certain don’t understand if the market itself for these is big enough to justify making 3+ versions of this platform itself. This would be considered a bad business model, logically, but I’m wonder why it’s being done and (as you alluded to) perhaps somebody in the Asian Minivan market could explain!

If they wanted to make a random Toyota or something, I could think of a ton that have never been produced in 1:18 that would be good. But I guess it is what it is.

Yes! Why not make in 1:18 the Toyota Previa 1st Generation (a very unique people-carrier which is mid-engined), and the Toyota RAV-4 3-Door 1st Generation (such a cute ute that is among those responsible for the popularity and growth of the cross-over vehicles). These vehicles deserve to be replicated in 1:18, preferably diecast metal with opening parts.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but doesn’t a Chinese company already make this same Vellfire as a dealer addition already? I would argue that they could’ve easily made something else that wasn’t on the market then.

I’m not a big fan of companies doubling up and making cars that have already been produced by other companies, whether it’s a Lamborghini, Dodge, or a minivan for that matter.

All of you have no idea how popular these MPVs are in Asia.

I personally own multiple models of MPVs and I definitely won’t mind to get one of these in the future.

    • DS Team says:

Do you know how popular Minivans are in North America? It still does make my owners scream I need a scale representation of it. So, what makes this particular vehicle, and if we’re honest, not the most attractive thing envy of the Minivan trade?

Where do we buy it from? Link?
    TIA
