LCD Models New Production Pagani Huayra BC – Red

Announced back in 2021, LCD Model officially launches the 1:18, diecast metal Pagani Huayra BC in Red. The results are good, however, the team failed to cure the front wheel offset. Let’s hope the rest of the model makes up for this small sin. Also, pricing as we discovered to date so isn’t as inviting as past offerings. Supply chain hikes?

The performance of LCD is great, I believe LCD can surpass AA.I will definitely buy this model!

  2. Karsten says:

While I agree that there is improvement over their Huayra Roadster, the steep increase in price catapults this into the highest price category of our revised Model of the Year poll at the end of 2022 where it will then compete with Almost Reals Huayra Roadster and Cinque. Much of the enthusiasm for LCD so far was to be able and beat AUTOart without being up there with pricing. Just a promotion stunt with the Huayra Roadster or why is the Huayra BC Roadster so much more expensive now? Plus, AA are learning fast, so that it’s not sure that LCD will be the better choice.

I’d expect this model to be more attractive than the AutoArt’s one. At least, the dashboard and the seats are already better than AutoArt usually provides. Plus the suspension and the engine are not expected to be plastic as in recent AutoArt’s Pagani models.

Apart from that, LCD Models have already released Land Rover Defender 90 in 1:18. I already have this model in my hands and it’s just great. Very balanced and detailed one, quite on a par with AutoArt in terms of accuracy and details, while extending AutoArt in features (such as a rolling cardan, foldable back seats, advanced details in the interior, engine, suspension). Plus, this model with die-cast body costs less than AutoArt with less features and plastic body!

    • DS Team says:

You can’t complain about that. Yes, value over AUTOart, likely yes… but curious what did you pay or do you care or any concern with the price increase? Quite a jump from 2021.

I just have one question to all of you that coplain about the price incress of the new Pagain BC Roadster Do you all remeber what happend when AA went from diecast metal to composit? The prices went to the roof and the cars got worse. And now when some other brand try to make a disent diecast car you complain if the model car incress by 50 dollars, and what when the new AA composit cars went up by 100-150 dollars. So just think about that for a sec. So the real question is this, would you pay 50-100 dollars more for a plastic model car, comper to a diecast metal car? And just so you all know, i dont have anything against AA at all.

    • Karsten says:

I beg your pardon, but the price increase is more than 100 $ . I payed 200 Euros for the LCD Huayra Roadster, while the retailer now asks 300 Euros for the Huayra BC Roadster. If it were 250 Euros, I would not complain. Very soon I will review Super A’s Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution 9 (modified) that retailed for 250 Euros. Is it worse than the LCD?

  5. Scenic Gopi says:

The price increase of $50 US is a significant jump but still could be worse. Pretty evident that the models prior to this were released at a lower price so LCD could establish their name. Going forward if prices continue to rise their prices are going to be on par with Autoart and Almost Real. Very soon the average price of a model by these manufacturers will be $400 CAD a piece which is almost an 80% increase compared to pre Covid prices. I have 2 regular roadsters by LCD and I was willing to purchase multiple colours only because they were reasonably priced. I highly doubt I’ll buy more than one Huayra BC roadsters thanks to the price rise.

I have a Pagani Huayra BC Roadster on preoder for 250 dollar with shipping to Norway. And if thats a bad deal Karsten, then i can live with that. Or i could pay 350 dollar for a Pagani roadster from AA. I think thats a worse deal, dont you think? For a plastic model car. And i dont by those kind of car here in Europe because they are much more exspensive then in US or China

    • Karsten says:

250 Euros including shipping sounds good, but only if you don’t have to pay customs, which I would have to do, so that final cost would be more than 300 Euros. Buying this from outside the EU is only a bargain if price plus shipping were 200 Euros. Pricing for AA Huayra BC Roadster is yet unknown, but more colours and the #20 only on the release car.

    • Vitaliy D says:

Exactly! One may order a scale model at e.g. AliExpress – and the final price after the customs taxes will be less than the price asked in Germany. I can not understand that.

      • Karsten says:

Again, in most cases untrue. I have sometimes bought from outside the EU, before I knew, the model would become available in Germany, e.g. the Kengfai USSV reviewed here. Schuco then distributed it later, for not much more. If there is damage, which there was, buyer protection is better inside the EU with rights to return it without any reason within 14 days. No such rights from outside EU. I would have had to pay for sending it back, seller would not pay despite photographic evidence of danage, Paypal does subsidize sending it back, but not full price. The Mulsanne Grand Limo ended up much more expensive than my pre- order from a retailer here. I re-sold it, hardly getting back what I paid for. Same for Kengfai Lykan Hypersport. Thought I’d never get it here, so bought from China, it arrived totally destroyed, payed for sending it back, bought it cheaper from Schuco some time later. Buying from outside the EU never proved a bargain and often risky in terms of loss and damage.
I agree that especially pricing of AR Models in the EU compared to other continents is a rip-off, but calculated so that buying from our sponsor would end up more expensive after customs and taxes, plus risk not covered. Not worth it.

        • Vitaliy D says:

I believe you are right statistically whereas I was referring to single evidences :)
For example, the mentioned LCD 1:18 Defender 90 was around 150 euro after the whole delivery plus customs fee, while online stores are asking 170 euro for the same model. And I had similar experience with a couple of 1:18 Almost Real and AutoArt models.
But in general I agree with your arguments regarding the availability of certain models and buyer’s protection.

          • Karsten says:

Ok, I was wondering where you are buying from, but a mere 20€ difference is within my experience and not worthwhile the fuss and risk involved IMO. I still sometimes buy from outside the EU, while carefully considering the risk. If it´s a relatively cheap model like the Cadillac Escala, it´s worth the risk of suffering a total loss and I have no hesitations. The Mercedes Sprinter Police vans or the Hino Tow truck bordered on madness, though, considering both the risk and the final cost of each nearing that of the Actros car carrier. Admittedly, not my most sensible buying decisions.

  7. Ole Andre says:

I dont pay any custom fees from that store. And for me its much cheaper to by a model car in dollar against the euro. To explain that its like this. In Norway i need to pay 10.10 euro for 1 nok, but if i pay in dollar, its 8.80 for 1 nok, so the different is alot in the end. Thats why i by most of my model cars in dollar.

    • Karsten says:

It makes sense for you because Norway is not in the EU, so you may have different rules for trading with other non- EU. I pay by Paypal for buyer protection, so whatever the currency, I will have to do so by their exchange rate and it will be booked from my bank account in Euro. Non- Eu sellers now will have to declare and pay customs+taxes up front before they send to EU. If something gets into the country undeclared, I have to go to customs and show all paperwork to prove what I paid.

  8. Ole Andre says:

Yes all that is true. Normally i get a bill from the currier for the import taxes, but not from that store I dont know why because i expected to get a bill from the currier company, but i did not. And from that store its like this, when the currier come on my door with the packet, i will open it and see if all is ok. If its not, the currier takes the packet with them and send it back, and it dont cost anything for me, and i will get my money back. I allso use PayPal ofc. Luckelly all has been good. The store allso send me pictures before they send it of how its packed, so i am sure all is fine first
