Looksmart Announces Two New 1:18 Alfa Romeo’s…

Looksmart announces two new Alfa Romeo’s, the GT 2000 Junior Z Periscopica – Red and the GT 1300 Junior Z – Red and Silver.  Both are made of resin and feature closed-body design.  Each will be on sale sometime in Q4 2016.  Please contact Looksmart for more information.

About the Alfa’s…  “The Alfa Romeo GT 2000 Junior Z periscope of 1972 is a rear-engined car built in a single piece based on the compact coupe Junior Zagato. The prototype was developed by the research and development department of Alfa Romeo in early 1972. Its frame structure is very particular: the front is monocoque while the rear part is tubular to allow mounting of the motor. It has several air intakes to cool the 2000 cc engine, included the periscope on the roof that names the car itself.

Created by Zagato using the chassis from the Spider and the five-speed gearbox from the Giulietta, the Junior Zagato was an arresting-looking coupé that added real variety to the Alfa Romeo line-up. The sloping front and kamm tail were certainly a world apart from the well-crafted classicism of the rest of the Giulia-derived cars, but no less appealing for it. As it was lighter and more aerodynamic than the standard cars it was usefully quicker.”
