News from Minichamps this week bring forward a few new additions, the most appealing of which is the feature car, the 1:18 Porsche 908/02 Spyder – driven by Redman/Siffert at Nurburgring 1969. Execution looks solid, but the price is not. Come on, Minichamps, us collectors aren’t stupid! There are other companies creating beautiful scale replicas in resin at 1/3 of the price! A once favored model company by me, who is now a shadow of their former greatness. Friends, vote with your wallets! Other new items include:
1:43 – PORSCHE 914/6 – 1970 – GREEN
1:43 – BMW M3 DTM – BMW TEAM RMG – ANDY PRIAULX – DTM 2013
1:43 – BMW M3 DTM – BMW TEAM SCHNITZER – DIRK WERNER – DTM 2013
1:43 – BRABUS G V12 800 – 2012 – BLACK
Minichamps are like little plastic toys now. Nowhere near the serious manufacturers, except in their pricing.
Agreed. Truly a shame!
Add to that the discrepancy between European and North American pricing…..254 USD in Europe, 320 USD here…..what gives?…..a 70 USD incremental?…..for what ?
That’s about 27-28% …..MInichamps need to get realistic …..and the sooner they start, the better.
