More AUTOart Goodness: 1:18 Porsche 993/Fiat Abarth TCR 1000

More surprises from the AUTOart camp. Their latest release, the Porsche 993, is shown in new skin – Riviera Blue Metallic. Model is manufactured in diecast and is currently on route to distributors now. The Fiat Abarth TCR 1000 – Grey/Red Stripes is new to AUTOart’s assortment, a unique and cool looking creature for sure. Will it be a priority piece with collectors? We think not. Could be some markdowns in the future, folks. What are your thoughts?

    Hi ,

Why you think that the Abarth 1000 TCR will be a failure?

It’s a classic car like Lancia S4 from Autoart

    • DS Team says:

First I did not say failure. The model is not mass appeal, based on where it will be priced (ever escalating prices from AUTOart) and other wants or should I say priorities for collectors this model will fall short. Execution is somewhat lacking, the detail looks way too “plastic”.

  2. Austin says:

You are right about it looking plastic, I would have rather seen a stock Fiat 500 from the 60’s. But it failing or not being a hit, eh…people pay dumb prices for sealed cars so I don’t see it sinking immediatly.

If Autoart produce a replica of the Johann Abt Abarth 1000tcr as raced very successfully during the 1970 ETCC, I for one will get the model. It’s also worth remembering that there are a lot of Abarth fans around the World, and I can see them also wanting one. For myself I find another modern Porsche 911 derivative to be boring. The last 911 which was worth a model (for me) was the Carrera 2.7 RS. Or a 1967 911R….

I guess, different strokes for different folks ;)

      • JS Coleman says:

Yet I agree. That the Abarth will have appeal to Fiat buffs, I do not doubt, but that is likely to be all – and that is a limited clientele. But then again, AUTOart must have reason to believe that there is a market, or they wouldn’t produce it.

        Time will tell.
