PHOTO GALLERY: GT Spirit Mercedes-Benz Maybach S600

We were going to review this one in detail but decided since the market is someone saturated with this particular car in 1:18 scale we decided a few comments and photos were sufficient instead.  The model comes from GT Spirit, the car 1:18 scale Mercedes-Benz Maybach S600 in Obsidian Black.  Resin and sealed it is limited to 999 pieces worldwide.

The model itself is quite good, we place it on GT Spirit’s better executed models.  Being priced the lowest of the three that are available about $150CND,  it places it well behind price wise of the AUTOart and Almost Real examples.  Lovely work on the exterior.  We like the 3D-like moulding around the doors and windows.  Paint is excellent too.  Inside she is nicely appointed, though no flocking/carpeting provided.  Enjoy the pics!

The market being saturated with this particular version, as you rightly said, I do not understand why GT Spirit cared to do this one and not the more glamourous facelift that follows the Maybach S Class 650 Convertible´s styling lead.

I believe that GT Spirit’s Maybach is the best one:

What is most valuable in a modelcar is the overall accuracy – shape and exterior details like bumpers, grilles, lights, etc. and after that is the functionality (opening parts). I can’t stand the fugly headlights of the AA or the innacurate tail lights of ARM and don’t give a damn if their doors open. It seems that barely no one talks about these flaws of AA/ARM and focuses on other things.

TL;DR: exterior details like lights are far more important than anything else.

Totally agree with Emanuil, I have the ARM Merc-Maybach and I also GT Spirit AMG version. And I like much more the shape and tail lights of the GT Spirit model. And BTW the GT Spirit shape is very close to Norev’s model, while the ARM one is miles away. This means that if the ARM got the shape right, GT Spirit and Norev have got it wrong.
