At first, I was going to attempt a full review of the latest F1 1:18 scale replica from Solido, the Renault Sport F1 RS18 – Pre-Launch Version 2018.  Since I have no experience in F1 and have only owned one, which was sold later once I exited collecting livery autos.  The car was a Minichamps Canadian Grand Prix Presentation car I believe from 2000.

As we all know Solido stands for quality opening price point scale models in diecast metal with plastic parts.  At first glance, the model definitely will provide some good shelf presence.  Overall lines are good and present the model relatively close to the original.  Decent paint and decal work is available too. I also like the available steering of the front wheel and they each tire is scratched to show surface wear.  The overall definition of the wheels in general are definitely a strong point.

Where the model starts to lose its lustre is on closer inspection.  Intricate detail in the front and rear aerodynamics is somewhat bulky and loosely defined.  Carbon fibre work is moulded into the various components and in some cases, this is the right process based on the particular component on the car.  Retail on the piece is around $70CND, I rate this one a Solido B.  Enjoy the pics!
