PHOTO GALLERY: Solido Porsche 935 “Moby Dick” 24H Le Mans

Budget-friendly fans have some more classic racing to choose from, Solido has just released the 1:18 Porsche 935 – 24H Le Mans 1978 #43, drivers  Schurti, Rolf and Stommelen car.  Not a winner, but the classic Martini livery helped stake its memory with race fans.  It nicknamed “Moby Dick” due to its White body and long tail shape which helped optimize drag.

As for the model, Solido comes through with a decent effort.  The overall look is here along with diecast exterior and interior access.  Motor section and front suspension bits are sealed.  Highlights include nicely integrated side light and few metal bits along the exterior side.  The interior, better than the usual generic indulgence is modestly appointed too.  Seems Solido is upping the anty on the interior definition.  We’ll have more Porsche racing examples to share by Solido shortly.  Enjoy the pics!

I’ve got the Spark version and compared it with the pictures of the Solido. Of course there are differences, but for the money it’s a very good buy.

Hey Solido. Please make a plain color version of this model car. No liveries, just plain color. Thanks.

i just picked this model up. Mine came with a photo etched front grill piece that was only half glued in and half was sticking out and needed to be re-glued, which i have done and there will be some minor paint touch up. Otherwise the model is in pretty good shape with a few tiny paint chips.

The model came with a little aerial that needs to be inserted in the roof and a long black plastic piece, roughly shaped like a thin tapering tube. It’s about 2 inches long.

    Where does it go?

By the way. How the heck do i register? The question: ** EMAIL THE DS TEAM FOR PASSWORD ** is not a question. So i can’t complete registration form.

    • DS Team says:

Centre, just behind the front windshield.

So the 2 inch long black tapering tube thing is a tool to be used to open the doors. Figured it out. I thought it was to be attached somewhere on the model, maybe inside or on the bottom. But it simply is used to hook the door handles and open the doors.
