This Dodge Challenger has been a long time coming! This is only the second time that this production car has been produced with opening doors, because the Maisto and Highway 61 versions (in addition to being 10+ year old molds) were based on the original SRT8 concept car. This is the second time that the facelifted version has been made in 1:18, with the high priced AutoArt beating Solido to the market. This one is a must have for me.

One could only hope that the Dodge Charger is next. GTSpirit already has that mold in resin as well. There are a lot of collectors and YouTuber customizers that will no doubt jump on the chance to make police Dodge Chargers if Solido every chose to do so. That one is a must do if the goal is to grab sales.

To bad this doesn’t have all of the openings like the maisto…
It would give them a run for their money

Future wise they will. 2022 should see Solido Premiere, a line of scale models with full access and interior detailing as good as GT Spirit if not better!

That’s true, and you make a good point. It’s just unfortunate that just having opening doors is a concession to make these days if you dislike resin. Not ideal in any sense of the imagination, but I hope this opens up the door for moving towards fully opening parts in future models.

I believe Greenlight started with their “Artisan” collection line, which had no opening parts. Their 1:18’s slowly but surely started to offer more opening bits, with some even becoming fully opening. Although Solido themselves has made opening diecast cars for years, one can hope that they start going into the same direction as Greenlight with their future lines of as well that started off life with limited to no opening parts.

bonjour , le problème , si solido fait des miniatures tout ouvrants , le prix ne sera plus le même , je pense que ce n est pas le but de ce fabricant .

    • DS Team says:

Likely yes… They are working on an alternative series, called Solido Premiere. These will cost more but provide a more complete replica.

      • Giorgio262 says:

Solido Premiere sounds a lot like what they did as Solido Prestige with the Shelby Cobra which passes as one of the most accurate replicas ofthe Cobra in 1:18. But, as shown in the photos above, even the Renault 5 Turbo has access to the rear mounted engine, and then the Citroen HY too has more than 2 openings, and it’s not like they are more expensive than the rest of their offerings.
Anyway, the nice thing about Solido is that they seem to capture the proportions of the real cars very very nicely. I’ve been tempted several times, but eventually never bought any of their models. The fact is that often, for relatively little more money I can manage to get some more palatable used and sometimes even new models on ebay, and they all come with full openings and\or better details, which, in 1:18, is a must for me.

That’s Challenger would be great with better designed front end, specifically in the headlights department.
