TOP Marques 1:12 Tesla Model S

TOP Marques is flexing their muscle once again, the latest painted hand-sample from their 1:12 series is the Tesla Model S. Overall the model presents well, we definitely are in favour of the exterior colour Blue. Though the ride height might be a little romanced based on the original. No word on release date, but we suspect a late Q3 or Q4 release.

1:12?? GEEEZ! why can’t someone (i’m looking at you AUTOart) make a decent Model S in 1:18 scale..!?!?

The current 1:18 model for this car is way too expensive and complete rubbish.. :/

Complete rubbish? Sorry, that´s really way too harsh. I´ve got the 1/18th Model S, have reviewed it here on DS and got it from a dealership here in Frankfurt, Germany for 350 EUR including a key for the real car. It admittedly has a hefty price tag that you may regard as unjustified. But it still is a decent diecast model with everything opening (frunk and trunk on struts, whereas AUTOart would most certainly offer you a plastic composite model for not much less. Perhaps you were merely unlucky with yours? BTW you can now get a 1/18 supercharger from Shapeways for the model.

I don’t own one personally but my cousin has a red one in his collection and upon close inspection I found it to be very lackluster. For such a pricey model you still get big ugly dogleg hinges and poorly molded parts. Ok maybe saying it is complete rubbish is a little harsh but if it were $100 then I would have certainly purchased one for my collection. If Aa offered it even in plastic composite im sure it would be a very nice model and definitely more justifiable for a $200 to $300 model.

Cool you can get a supercharger from Shapeways! I will tell my cousin about that!

    Agree with Alex – I’d love a 1/18 Tesla Model S (and Model 3!) – what’s with the 1/12??!
And why oh why has Top Marques gone with the old front and not the revised front to at least make it contemporary (whether you prefer it or not…)
