TopSpeed New Chevrolet Corvette Stingray 2020 (UPDATE)

** UPDATE ** There will be an exclusive special edition in Red available as well. We have one photo to share.

This is a nice surprise, and likely the first available 1:18 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray to come to market.  This one is from TopSpeed!  The exterior colour is found in Black with Midnight Gray Stripe.  We still see a lot of solid plastic on the exterior’s intake compartment, if your models are static at least provide us additional detail with perforated grilles.  TopSpeed hasn’t issued an official release date, but we suspect early Q1 2020.

  1. Michael says:

Such a hideous design on this car. Chevy should have stuck to the proven Corvette image of a nice front engined GT.

    • Stephane Demers says:

It had to evolve to a mid engine sport car to be able to joinn the biggest names in car history and unlock.all it’s potential in the endurance races. It’s a logical evolution and you see I like that bold design.

it seems to drive like never before, and C8R looks great, and that’s all that matters.
Finally GM realized that boomers won’t be buying Corvettes forever.

  3. Charles Stünzi says:

To me, this is not a real Corvette any more, and you’re right, Michael, its design IS hideous!!!!! I will not allow it to enter my huge collection of Corvette model cars.

  4. Robert says:

I’m not crazy for the looks either, but I have yet to see one on the asphalt. But we can consider ourselves lucky to have had the front engined Corvette for so long, why? Because GM was too cheap to put the engine in the rear for ages… The Corvette’s main engineer of the 60’s, Zora Arkus Duntov had that idea in the mid sixties and puched hard for it… Tadge Juechter, lead project on the Corvette now confirmed the C7 ZR-1 is the highest performance front engine car will ever get. If they wanted to evolve more and have better dynamics, they had to go to a mid-engined design. So what was overdue for the last 54 years just happened ewith the C8. I’m pretty sure the next Z06 will look awesome, I can only imagine what the ZR1 could look like.

  5. Ilka says:

Also the wheelbase is enormously long for mid-engined cars, which doesn’t add to the looks, but adds A LOT to the stability. Shorter wheelbase and such a heavy/torqqy engine would cause a lot of snap oversteer. This one is almost in the DP Corvette territory, which I personally like. Would love though that they went for more DP look.
