Team Whelart unveils their latest project, the 1:18 metal and opening Bentley Arnage. Details are few at this point other than the grey-wear example alluding to some of the finer details. There is no word on the colour palette or arrival date. However, the question needs to be asked: Does the community need another Bentley Arnage?
Product# TBD
Does the community need another Bentley Arnage? Let´s put it this way: The Arnage was only made by Minichamps (in a then legendary quality) 20 years ago, while the market is flooded by a sheer endless stream of Mercedes G-waggons! And the Mulsanne was made by Minichamps, Kyosho, Almost Real and Rastar. So why not a second Bentley Arnage?
More importantly, this time the chance to make it´s sister car, the Rolls Royce Seraph should not be missed – or my modification of a Minichamps Arnage will remain a one of one: https://www.1-18-karmania.de/road-cars/rolls-royce/silver-seraph/
This is really a gap that needs to be closed!
You are totally correct, I would cut about half of all these G-Wagobs and made more of these elegant sedans from various brands. When I say lineup of most model companies, they totally lost plot. But hey, maybe market is not oversatured from like 5 cars overall like I used to think.
+1. That era of Bentley is much cooler than anything post-VW.
This looks like a really nice model too, based on those photos. Engine bay with a removable engine cover? This hobby needs more of that.kind of things.
Better still, I think we could use a fully opening 1/18 model of the 2003 Le Mans Winning Bentley Speed 8 and its 2nd place finishing sister car
The community may not need another Arnage. But another Arnage that’s not covered with paint rash and doesn’t sag at the back would be very welcome. Judging by the way their Supra turned out, I’m not very optimistic though.
Well, I wouldn ´t mind Almost Real to expand their Bentley range either and make the Silver Seraph. Actually with their is a lot of potential in the pre-BMW/VW Bentleys and Rollers as they were largely the same cars (e.g. Bentley Turbo R and Rolls Royce Silver Spirit& Spur).
Well this is a welcome surprise! I fully agree with what’s been said before, nowadays it’s all about G-Wagons, Aventadors and Pagani’s and you rarely see anything different anymore. Almost Real surprised with the Jaguar XJ’s and Motorhelix with the W221 S600 and I’m happy someone has decided to breathe some life into the older Bentley’s. I would love to see more also along the lines of a Brooklands Coupé and Azure!
The Jaguar X308 in fully opening 1/18 is one Jaguar I’d be over the moon to see. As well as the Jaguar F-Type SVR
Both would be great to see indeed! When it comes to the F-Type I would actually also love to see just a pre-facelift V6 S Roadster. Always loved those! And what I would really love to see is a Daimler Super Eight but like the last version in burgundy with the disc wheels.
So we’ve seen the Arnage, Mulsanne and Continental GTs – but has anyone wondered why the Flying Spur has been seriously snubbed? It’s been around long enough to be modelled by now.
Well, Kyosho or Minichamps DID the Flying Spur, only the new Flying Spur that has taken the Mulsanne’s place as the largest Bentley sedan hasn’t been made, but admittedly could and should be made. Almost Real are the likely manufacturers to make it.
It would be great if Almost Real did the new Flying Spur however Almost Real has lost the license for Bentley. Bentley is currently still working with TopSpeed Models and the TSM and MiniGT labels for as far as I know and currently they are working on the Batur in 1:64, 1:43 and 1:18.
Somebody should be making the Bentley Hunaudieres in 1:18. Also, the Bentley Dominator of the Sultan of Brunei in 1:18.
