Congratulations Bburago…more junk from yourselves. Good to see you are really exercising your Ferrari license to produce more trash that nobody wants!

    • Evan says:

I have been collecting Bburago’s Ferrari F1 cars for years now. They are not “junk”. While Bburago can improve in some areas, I appreciate model cars that I don’t have to sell my house to buy (looking at you Minichamps and BBR).

  2. Giorgio262 says:

Without aiming too high, I wish Norev bought the license to make Ferrari models in the usual Norev price range/quality. Maisto\Burago have been quite disappointing so far.

    • Eric says:

Kinda like when JADA got the license for the C6 corvette ZR1 and the junk toy we got from that….. still waiting on a nice model of that car!!

  3. Luis Cantu says:

Sorry guys. Bburago is a manufacturer founded in Italy many years ago and it’s the origins of 1/18 scale diecast cars. I have been collecting model cars for more than 35 years, and of course recognize they are not the best in the market, however I think they do not deserve such despective calificatives as trash or junk.

My collection counts more than 2,500 1/18 models and includes many Autoart, CMC, Exoto, Minichamps, Kyosho and many more, and early Bburagos have a great place within

    • Tiago Pereira says:

While I agree with you about the significant and deserved place Bburago has in the diecast world, I think the previous comments were aimed toward the fact that their Ferrari license has been very poorly managed.

And instead of helping Bburago to maintain their status within the business and selling more miniatures, it is actually harming their image, judging by they huge amount of criticism that they are taking.

And this is also coming from a 1/18 diecast collector that has Bburago’s and CMC’s in the same shelf.

PS – 2500 models?? Uau! if not done before, please apply to DCOTM and present us with photos of it! :)

  4. Stewart Donald says:

Sorry Luis Cantu, James referred to Bburago producing ‘Junk’ and ‘trash’ for Ferrari. I would have to completely agree with him as Bburago are wasting away the licence for Ferrari yet KK Scale are doing a stellar job with the models they are producing for Ferrari. Bburago are just cheap and tacky toys. Norev would do a far better job for Ferrari than Bburago…quality, precision and value for money.

  5. Peter Robins says:

Dear Diecast Society…please could you put up a vote poll for which manufacturer people would like the Ferrari Licence to go to next…would be very interesting indeed.

    • DS Team says:

Good idea, but it will need to placed on hold until later Feb 2021. Our 2020 DS Model of the Year poll is going live soon!

      • Mark Jenkins says:

Great to see the Model of the Year Poll us up…but to tell you the truth, I am so looking forward to the ‘next Ferrari licence poll’. Please Diecast Society, I really want to see and vote in that poll. Keep up the great work.

  6. Edward Hamish says:

That is a fantastic idea Peter and Diecast Society! It would be very interesting to see what the majority vote for in which manufacturer would be a perfect replacement for the Ferrari licence. Let us not forget that with most manufacturers, they are charging pretty ridiculous prices for models, prices that are plain stupid in actual fact. Prices and can buy people a months worth of shopping or even pay a months mortgage on their home. A manufacturer that can produce quality at an affordable price is key here. Bburago have had the Ferrari licence for a number of years now and have excelled in demonstrating to the world that they are completely incapable of producing anything of quality at all. As we all know, Ferrari have a rich history and a vast portfolio of exquisite automobiles that can be replicated, yet Bburago have a very lazy and almost ignorant approach in producing nothing great to this day. Norev would be an ideal replacement for the licence as they produce quality models that are finished to a great standard, models that also have all openings and are not sealed and at a price point that does not require the individual to take out a loan.

  7. Paul says:

I must say that I do like the sound of the next Ferrari licence poll. Contenders could definitely be Norev, Autoart, Minichamps, Hot Wheels (again), Welly and various other manufacturers at affordable prices. Hot Wheels Elite were just that, good quality, great catalogue of Ferrari models and made in exclusive production numbers…damn how I miss the Hot Wheels Elite days.

    • DS Team says:

“damn how I miss the Hot Wheels Elite days”

You can say that again! That was a great era for Ferrari fans!!

      • Lyndon says:

Yes indeed, I ditto that, Hot Wheels Elite was the pinacle of Ferrari in Diecast. I don’t think that we will see the same again from any manufacturer…especially NOT Bburago! Roll on the Ferrari Poll…great stuff!

  8. Wayne says:

A Ferrari Poll hey….fantastic…I know who I will not (Bburago) be voting for!

  9. Ben says:

Maybe, just maybe, the Ferrari licence poll may be just the traction needed for Ferrari to wake up and ditch Bburago…here is hoping.

    • DS Team says:

Thank you for the vote of confidence, but (LOL) we think Ferrari has larger problems than scale models. Priority one is fixing their F1 program LOL.

      • Rich says:

Very true Diescast Society…Ferrari’s F1 program is of major concern! But I am one who is looking forward to this poll. We as collectors only dream about a quality manufacturer taking over the Ferrari licence. Bburago has been nothing short of a complete and utter failure, can’t imagine Ferrari as a company are all to pleased either.

  10. Julian577 says:

I as one have to admit that as a collector of 1:18 Ferrari models, I do not have a single Bburago example. They as far as I am concerned cannot be classed as collectors models at all, they are nothing more than tarted up toys. The quicker another manufacturer wins the Ferrari licence…the better!

  11. Ian J says:

I just do not understand what Bburago are playing at. They have had the Ferrari licence for a number of years now and have still not managed to put together any kind of plan, schedule or production forecast for producing anything worthy for us collectors. A complete and utter waste of space I think, how come other manufacturers are more efficient and creative yet Bburago are just slow, dull and unimaginative?

  12. Adams says:

An online poll to choose the next manufacturer for Ferrari…excellent stuff! Love the website Diecast Society.

  13. John Tacon says:

I began collecting 1:18 scale Ferrari models coming up towards 30 years ago when I first came across the Bburago range in my local toy and hobby shop. In those days, they were solid and well finished, made in Italy, and inexpensive too at around GBP 15 – which would have been roughly USD 30 or so. They were a fantastic introduction for a collector with minimal knowledge. Now, with more knowledge, I can appreciate the step up that came with Hot Wheels Elite Ferrari models, both in quality and breadth of the range – but at a higher cost. Nowadays, I’d have to agree with most of the criticism aimed at Bburago on 1:18 Ferrari models, but I think their 1:24 and 1:32 Ferrari models are well executed and eminently affordable. I totally agree that Bburago does need to improve significantly on future offerings. My latest acquisition, the Maisto-branded Monza SP1, is not great quality at all and will be replaced when the ‘Signature’ version is available in the UK.

    • DS Team says:

“, the Maisto-branded Monza SP1, is not great quality at all and will be replaced when the ‘Signature’ version is available in the UK”

For Bburago, this is an exceptional model. We’re waiting for the Red Signature edition too!

  14. MartinD says:

Bburago are just waste of time and money. I do not buy them at all. Ferrari are silly company for getting Bburago to make models for them. Other company make better models than Bburago. I do not buy at all.

  15. Theo says:

My vote for the company to replace Ferrari would have to go to Norev. They are masters at producing quality models that are finished to a great standard, nice interiors and detailing, great packaging and presentation but most of all excellent an price point which allows many more individuals to enjoy this great hobby. Norev are a very good company that would fit the bill perfectly.

  16. WA7 says:

Looking at all the comments regarding Buurago and their Ferrari models, I as one would have to agree that they have been nothing short of a great disappointment when it comes to their Ferrari scale model range. I really do hope that youmguys at Diecast Society do put up a Ferrari Poll to ask us collectors which manufacturer we would like to take over from Bburago. I think that the manufacturer that would be perfect to replace Bburago would have to be Norev. I do love their quality, execution and build…they certainly know how to produce superb quality which is so well finished and presented. But the key factor being that they are priced well, that is very important so to make them available to all rather than the incredibly well off.

  17. Harry H says:

I am loving the thought of a new manufacturer taking over the Ferrari licence from Bburago. Looking forward to the Poll Diecast Society.

  18. Matt says:

I am one who longs for another manufacturer to win the Ferrari licence. Autoart, Norev and Minichamps would be great contenders but the most important factor being good quality and affordability as I am fed up of manufacturers charging absolutely ridiculous prices which are simply stupid. I think a maximum of £80 – £100 for a good quality 1:18 model is what the prices should be….not £300 – £500 which is simply ridiculous especially in this global situation where people are losing their jobs and struggling to put food on the table, those kind of prices just do not make any sense at all.

  19. JamesG says:

Bburago’s handling of the Ferrari licence has been nothing more than a disaster. I am surprised that the Ferrari marketing department are content with how Bburago have performed so far. Does anyone at Diecast Society know until when the Bburago licence runs until? I really do hope it is coming to an end very soon…good riddance! Bburago should stick to what they do best…makes cheap and poorly finished toys!
