Would be very nice models if they used the Highway 61-tooling that they actually own…

I’m fairly certain these are the Highway 61 molds for the most part, like how Greenlight is still making the Highway 61-derived Chevy pickups and vans. There have been some cost-cutting changes made to the H61 pieces, though, like doglegs instead of the correct type of hinge… not sure if that’s the case on these two.
My question is, how is it they managed to remove the posts in the ’70s headlights but not in the ’71s… the headlight assemblies should be the same

I believe those Challenger molds are GL’s own, they were done right before acquiring the HWY61 molds, might be about a year before the official news about acquire. Sadly this, and 78-81 Camaro are the last ok molds from base Greenlight. Everything after that is best to be avoided (imo)

Oh wow, I had no idea there were two sets of 1/18 Challenger molds (three including the Ertl). Thank you- and I apologize, Mr. Hemi Tim!

No worries at all. Thankfully the old (and good) mold still exists and is sometimes put to use by ACME and small dealers like “Yourcarindiecast – YCID”.
