“We” Stand with Ukraine!

DiecastSociety.com welcomes collectors from all around the world. Our gallery of Diecast Collectors of the Month alone lays testament to where each of us is from. What we agree or disagree about on this website is unrelated to our origins. We have and will not blame fellow collectors, whether from the USA or Russia, Canada, Germany, Poland or Belarus, for what their governments do. Often enough we individually have less influence on that than we wish we had. And to take more influence or make a regime change is a collective privilege reserved for the citizens of each country.

But all of us understand when injustice is done. And having the freedom to speak up obliges us to do so. In the name of human decency, we strongly condemn what Mr. Putin does to people in Ukraine and the rest of the world, including Russia itself. We regret any loss of life, but anyone who values their own country´s sovereignty as much as the UN Charta cannot deny the Ukrainians their right to defend their country as each of us will defend ours if invaded by an aggressor. It is in this spirit that we stand with Ukraine, currently proving to be “the land of the free and the home of the brave”. Slava Ukraine!

    Absolutely!

  2. Ryser says:

BRAVO , tous solidaires avec les Ukrainiens 🇨🇵

  3. Gonçalo Freitas says:

My prayers are with the suffering Ukrainian people.

  4. Karsten says:

Ukrainians bravely and relentlessly defend their country, sometimes unarmed, peacefully, creatively … by just blocking tanks´ path, singing, argueing or cheekily offering tank crews stranded by the roadside without fuel to tow them back to the Russian border. It often seems from their reactions, Russian soldiers understand with shame how much they are in the wrong. Anyone with a sense of decency cannot help but admire the Ukrainians, either secretly or openly. You guys are defending the core set of values underlying any human society. Justice is on your side and will prevail! Slava Ukraini!

  5. MLB says:

Yes, our prayers for all of Ukraine. What is happening now is horrible in every sense.

  6. Sergey says:

I apologize – I have great difficulties with the language, for this reason – through a translator.
Who are you supporting? Nazi regime?! Or are you just for peace? If just for peaceful coexistence, then why were you silent for eight years? All these years, the regime of this country, day after day, shelled Donetsk and Luhansk, which rebelled against the Nazis who came to power with the help of a military coup in 2014 and did not call on the power of the Hutas. Weren’t you interested? Did this not concern you? Now what happened? What prompted you to such a completely non-model post? Don’t mix politics and models. Especially since you have – very one-sided information. I’m ashamed for you.

    • Vitaliy D says:

Kyiv, Kharchiv and other big cities of Ukraine are being attacked by Russian missles and Russian invaders. Living buildings together with citizens are being destroyed by Russian missles and military technique. Nazi regime is coming with Russian invaders. Unless you call Nazi those people who defend their own land, and by “defend” I mean defend from invaders who come with war.

      • Sergey says:

If it were so, there would be only ruins. And your media show you the destroyed houses of Donetsk and Lugansk. But for you – all this is up to the light bulb.

        • Karsten says:

Err, Sergey, Vitaliy does not need media, he is from Kiev and sees enough of it with his own eyes. You claimed to be a Russian soldier in Ukraine. So tell us: What is your mission? Hand out candy to children? Or kill Vitaliy? Because you consider him Nazi for not bowing under Putin´s yoke? That would have made your Russian grandfathers Nazis for not bowing under the the Nazis’ yoke, but defending Russia. So please, don´t be absurd!
Are you saying, you have not fired a single shot, not killed a single Ukrainian, not destroyed any infrastructure in the past 5 days? Are you saying that what Vitaliy has seen so far is acting with restraint (or “there would only be ruins”)? Are you threatening to bomb him to pieces in his apartment? And you honestly believe, that´s the right thing to do?
Please, if you are really a Russian soldier, do yourself, мать Россия and her children a favour: Don´t do anything that will be hard to forgive for generations to come. I am German, I know what I am talking about!

          • Sergey says:

I mentioned that I am a Russian soldier in Ukraine. I was in the Donbass in 2014, when the people there did not recognize the new government, and they were thrown at them by aircraft, tanks and the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
I am not aware of what Vitaly saw from Kyiv. But I saw what the Armed Forces of Ukraine were doing in Donbas in 2014 and I know what has been going on there all these years. Do you even know or have heard of this?

            • Karsten says:

Yes, Russia handed out passports and encouraged local pro- Russian population in sovereign Ukraine to declare themselves independend after losing power over Ukraine in Kiev after Maidan. If Ukraine did that on Russian territory, what would Putin do?

        • Gonçalo Freitas says:

You ignorant! Are russian media showing what is happening!
          Long life to Ukraine!

    • Karsten says:

My dear friend, I am afraid it is you, who is sadly falling for Putins propaganda. He has even forbidden media in Russia to use the words “war”, “attack” or “invasion”, instructing them to say “special military operation” instead. But what else is sending an army into another country to topple its government than a war, an attack, an invasion. Putin is calling Selensky´s government a “Nazi-regime” (and you are sadly echoing this here). Nothing could be further from the truth: Selensky is Jewish! That´s if you were calling Islamic State “Christian Crusaders”. Selensky came to power with a land-slide majority in a free and democratic election, which shows in the equally huge support for him by Ukrainians now. And he is not “a puppet of the west”, but in fact felt abandoned by the US and Europein the early stages. It is his resolve that forces the free world to make good on their promises.
And yes, we all know, what happened in 2014: There was no “military coup”, Janukowich was ousted by public pressure, after he had unsuccessfully tried to crush protests on Maidan in the same manner as Putin now brutally crushes any protests against this war (or any other opposition). When Ukraine turned their back on Russia and towards the west, Putin covertly invaded Crimea (as he later triumphantly admitted) and eastern Ukraine.
My friend, I don´t blame you: You are a victim of Putin´s propaganda machine, because freedom of the press and free speech is suppressed in Russia. Broaden your mind and access media outside Putin´s reach. Talk to soldiers returning from Ukraine or their family. They´ll tell you the truth.

      • Sergey says:

Yes, yes … Under the guarantees of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of such countries as Germany, France and Poland …. The next day, after signing these guarantees …
Putin did not invade the referendum. to which all your media refused to come, quietly and peacefully introduced a war there, in order to avoid the bloodshed that the Maidan activists promised to arrange there ….
Talk to the soldiers who returned from Ukraine? Is this what you offer me? You’re trying to have a conversation with one of those now.

        • Karsten says:

So you are a Russian soldier and you are in Ukraine? Then you´ll see everything for yourself. Tell us: Where are you? Do the Ukranian people welcome you as liberators?

          • Sergey says:

I am a naval officer of the USSR, in reserve. I was in Donbass in 2014. He took part in repelling attacks on Donetsk. Now I could not go, because I am undergoing treatment for leukemia.

            • Karsten says:

Sorry to hear that, I am ill with cancer myself and I wish you all the best. But for me my diagnosis has changed my perspective on life, on what is important and right.
There is no winnable war, none that will create a peaceful life for generations to come. You can see hiw the cold war still triggers old reflexes with people and violence just revokes old stereotypes. People will say: “See? We told you! That’s what the Russians are like!”. You see which response the Russian invasion triggers in the world. Russia is not solving problems, not making friends, but creating enemies. My government is now making a u- turn on the traditional peaceful and cooperative approach. Vitaliy is innocent, does not hate you, not even now. Could you blame him if that changed?

You and me, we will die, perhaps soon. But what about the next generation? Will this war improve their prospects, make their lives better? Will it make your coexistence with Ukranian people better? In united Europe, borders make no difference, they are open, no checkpoints. Students from our partnerschool in the Netherlands go to Germany for afternoon shopping, 80 years after Nazi Germany occupied them. Wouldn’t you want that for Russian and Ukranian kids? The longer this war wages, the higher the death toll, the more cruelty, the longer it will take to reconcile.

What can you and me sensibly do with the remainder of time left for us on this world? Point fingers or build bridges? Must you hate Vitaliy for being Ukrainian? He does not hate you! Will you ve able to reach out to him? Will Russia be able to reach out to their Ukranian cousins? Believe a European citizen, it makes life so much better!

  7. Peter says:

I don’t understand why you decided to drag politics onto this website? Why now? And where does it stop? Bad decision IMHO.

    • Gonçalo Freitas says:

      Bad comment!
It’s not just politics! Is the clear violation of internatial rights and crimes against the people!
My hobby is not as important as my values! But I much apreciate this position from DiecastSociety.
      Just “politics”? Very sad…

      • Sergey says:

And what are your values? Neo-Nazi support? Look online – who is Bandera. And at the same time – what emblems are worn in the AZOV and AIDAR battalions.

        • Gonçalo Freitas says:

          No!
I am against all kind of nazism!
Close to what it’s happening is what nazi regime did in the past!
I hope you have a family to understand this suffering!

    • Sergey says:

I support!!!! This is a resource about models, not about politics….

    • Sergey says:

I fully support! This resource is about models, not politics.

    • Zheng Li says:

I fully agree! This is a website about car model, politics should be set aside

      • Karsten says:

Just wondering … are you joining the discussion from China? I have never seen posts from you before here, my friend. We welcome your unexpected interest in model cars and our website.

      • Gonçalo Freitas says:

Politics?! An all country is beying distroied!
I hope you value more human lifes and freedoom than your modelcars!
This is only a blog but it’s visited from people around the globe! I really aplause this position from diecastsociety.com!
        Just politics, you ignorant!

  8. Karsten says:

“I hope, the Russians love their children too” (Sting, link above)

    • Sergey says:

We love not only our children, but also our brothers who have been under fire from artillery for the past eight years.

      • Karsten says:

If you do love your children as much as we all love ours, then please do not threaten the rest of the world with your nuclear weapons. This is totally out of proportion.
If you love your children as much as the Ukrainians love theirs, do not kill their children, their fathers, mothers. Withdraw your sons from Ukraine, they cannot always be captured and handed the phone to let their families know they are alive. Too many of them were killed in self-defense already.
If you do love your children as much as anyone else loves theirs, do not isolate them in a bubble of hate, but help them meet with ours to find out, that we are ALL human, brothers and sisters ALL.
Listen to Billy Joel in the link above and stop the madness!

  9. Sergey says:

But why didn’t you resent when more than a hundred people were burned alive on May 2, 2014?

  10. Alex says:

I will never visit this site more. was hoping to meet here smart people and like-minded people free from politicking, but made mistake. Just nasty. You’re just victims of propaganda. Good luck

  11. Sergey says:

Could you first tell everyone what happened in Odessa on May 2, 2014? And in the east of Ukraine in early April 2014?

  12. kitefighter says:

I think it’s always the right decision to show support for people who are suffering as those in the Ukraine are today. I endorse the decision of the collective members of diecastsociety.com to post this message of solidarity. Well said.

    • Sergey says:

I agree – this is a good deed – to support people in a difficult moment. BUT – please tell me the reason why you did not support those who were bombed and shot from cannons for eight years before?

  13. Roger Lodge says:

Really glad to see this message! Thank you for sticking your neck out to say this, it’s an important thing to do. Of course the Russian people aren’t the aggressors, instead it’s their leader, but the only way Putin either stops this OR gets thrown out by a coup d’etat is if the people of Russia are made to feel very uncomfortable due to sanctions AND messages like this one on your website. While on it’s own a simple message like this may not be a lot, when enough organizations say the same thing and Russians get the picture that the world is unanimously against what their despicable leader is doing in the name of their country the people will rise up.

  14. Well said DS team.

  15. Razorblade says:

Thank you Diecastsociety for showing support for the brave ukranian nation in this hard moment for them! We in Bulgaria will continue our support for them with everything we can, because they are our brothers fighting the barbarian horde! Slava Ukraini!

  16. Terrence says:

    Thank you Diecast Society!

  17. Steven Weiner says:

I’m glad that the Diecast Society posted this message. We are all hobbyists but also members of humanity itself. The best thing that could happen is for the Russian people to rise up in a second Russian revolution and overthrow the devil Putin. Drag him from the Kremlin like the Italian people did to the evil dictator Benito Mussolini at the end of World War II and put an end to him once and for all. I sincerely hope and pray that happens.

  18. Luis Cantu says:

My heart and prayers with the people of Ukraine. Just cannot understand the ambition of power of an evil mind, and hope the people of Russia do not support him

  19. KATSTAR says:

    Full support – SLAVA UKRAYNI!

  20. James says:

Full support for your message and also for the people of Ukraine. Stand strong.

  21. Vitaliy D says:

Thank you very much for your support!
I’m staying in Kyiv in my appartment because I don’t want to hide in a shelter. I’m a citizen who does not have any gun. I’m alive only because Ukrainian Army and Ukrainian Air Defence protects me from Russian missles and Russian firing that intends to “rescue” me according to Putin. I hear air strikes every day since Russian “helping hand” is here. A few living buildings have already been damaged by Russians in Kyiv, there are more damaged ones in Kharchiv, and much more in the east of Ukraine.
Russia provoked and initiated war in the east of Ukraine in 2014; today it came with war to the whole Ukraine. When an enemy comes with a war to your motherland, will you fight until the end or just resign? I believe you do see Ukrainians’ answer. Glory to Ukraine, glory to the heroes!

    • Karsten says:

      Dear Vitaliy,
We all know you as a long-time and very active member of our community here on Diecast Society, a fellow collector, a friend. We are firmly by your side!

I am German, and if I reminded Sergey that his grandfather will have picked up arms against my grandfather when he invaded Russia as a Wehrmacht soldier, he would agree with us that the invaded people have every right to do this. The Russians are wronging you now as much as we Germans wronged them back in the day (for which I am deeply ashamed). That is why we and anyone with a sense of human decency support you (without thoughts of revenge or aggression against Russia).

My dear Vitaliy, please convey this broad support to your family, friends, neighbours, countrymen. If there is anything, we can do for you, please let us know! I know its neither possible at this point in time with Kiev surrounded, nor will you want and leave your home despite the danger. But if it will ever be necessary, you are very welcome to come and stay with me! I am sure, other members here nearer to Kiev will join me and offer you the same!
(If you wish to contact me less publicly, let me know via the contact form on my website, and I will contact you via the Email you submit when posting)

    • Vitaliy D says:

Thank you very much, Karsten! Your warm words, as well as warm words from my colleagues and friends around the world, really warm up my heart and the hearts of my compatriots.
And colossal thanks to all the support from Europe, US and other parts of the world.
People like Sergey do not realize what Putin is doing to Russia and Russians now. But when all the Russians feel the weight of sanctions against Russia (probably next weaks and months), when there will be court martial against Russia and all the Russians will have to pay for all the damage to Ukraine (probably next years)… then they will ask: Putin, what have you done to us?!! But it will be too late. It is already too late. And it is very sad.
I don’t have a guarantee I’ll be alive at that moment, but I believe Russians will feel a sincere regret for what is happening today, and Putin will be treated only as a new Stalin or Führer.

      • Karsten says:

Yes, you are right, and part of the admiration for you Ukranians is that you´ve got such a big heart that it even goes out to the Russians in that you are trying to make them see, how they massively damage their own interests and completely ruin their reputation. I was trying to express the same in a reply to Sergey.
Let me tell you, that our media correspondents in Russia already report how the sanctions have an effect. Russians are queuing for cash at cash machines, their credit cards don´t work any more, which means that they cannot buy some luxury clothes from Italy (was what one man said in Moscow) . So far it´s a luxury problem compared to what you are facing. An honest Russian woman who´s got Ukranian friends who she is in touch with saw that very clearly interviewed by western media.

One day, you and the Sergey, Russians and Ukranians will live as neighbours in two separate, sovereign countries. But what the Putin does now, will make that neighbourhood far less friendly than it could be. France and Germany had to come a long way after three wars to where we are now, where Poland and Germany still aren´t. A future Russian president may have to fall to both of his knees at a yet to be built war memorial, like Chancellor Brandt did in Poland, to help heal the wounds inflicted now. Let´s hope that Russian pride permits such a gesture. We Germans had to learn the hard way and were deeply humbled by the generosity of our former enemies.
Let´s stay in touch! Stay safe, my friend!

    • Gonçalo Freitas says:

      Stay strong! Keep safe please!

  22. Marek says:

to DS TEAM: This is completely nonsense ! This oage is or should have been about models. People are dying in the world all the time, mostly due to the actions of completely different country. Why these deaths or suport for those suffering people are not listed here ? I truly believe it is not because you think those are some lesser people or just non human or ´BAD´ guys or is there no economic interest. I also believe this post is a mistake and shouldnt been posted. Especially, when there is clear prove that there is HUGE fakeness on both sides. I think that 99% percent people on the planet had no idea, what and why is really going on. And if I don´t know, I cannot talk about it. War is wrong, dreatfull indeed. Any war. There is no such thing as right war – except defence of your homeland on your soil. Fought America such war in the past ? Never. Did you listed those other wars here ? No. So if you are talking about war as such, you are quite a lot of wars too late…

  23. Karsten says:

Marek, with all due respect to your opinion, you will have noticed that this war draws and deserves wider attention. That´s why I don ´t think 99% are clueless about this conflict and you are the 1% who know. Are you telling us we are ignorant and to keep our mouths shut?

    • Marek says:

I´m not telling you are ignorant or you should shut mouth at all. You could say anything you want. I consider myself one of those 99% of people who have no real idea. This war draws wider attention only because it is close. You are from Germany, me Slovakia. Believe me, it is much more close to me than anyone else here except Ukrainians off course. I´m just telling, if there are wars/attrocities in Middle East, Yemen, Lybia, Afganistan, Rwanda, nobody cares on old continent, only now – because its close. BUT MAINLY, this web site was about something else and it should had stay that way. That is my opinion.

  24. Charley says:

Dear Diecastsociety.com, thank you very much for your Post!

As most of the Members here, I am with the Ukrainian people, admire their bravness and wish them all the best.

Yes, it’s not the only war in the world, not the first and it will not be the last. But it is a war begun by one of the biggest countries in the world, it is a war where the agressor (Putin) threated the rest of the world with nuclear bombs. It’s a war, that began – Sergey reminded us of this – eight years before. It were started when Russia invaded Krim and the Donbass. It is a war that was carfully prepared by years of desinformation of the Russian people. It is an immensly dangerous war.

An that’s why it is imported, to mention it here.

    • Sergey says:

I’m sorry – you didn’t confuse anything? Who, when and to whom threatened?
Russia did not invade the Donbass – there were no troops there. There were many volunteers and not only from Russia. We have a Frenchman in the detachment. In the next door was a Spaniard American….
but what happened on February 24 is already with the participation of Russian troops. Feel the difference – eight years repulsed attacks and in a couple of days – occupied most of the territory. So who was cheating?
This war was prepared not by Russia, but by someone else. For eight years, the heads of the republics and Russia have been trying to reach an agreement, on their part, and for the same number of years there have been promises from Ukraine and the guarantor countries – Germany and France. The shelling was only from Ukraine, as evidenced by the reports of the OSCE mission. And again the question – who and whom was deceiving all these years????

  25. Sergey says:

For those who want to understand something about what is happening in Ukraine right now, I advise you to watch the documentary film “Ukraine on Fire” directed by Oliver Stone.

  26. Karsten says:

WARNING to all regulars on DS: We have multiple comments, usually making pro-Russian statements or opposing our statements and wishing us to be quiet about politics from people who have never spoken up about models in the past. You may well suspect that these are Russian agents seeking to justify Russia’s invasion by delivering propaganda warfare in response to world-wide solidarity for Ukraine.
