AUTOart New Announcements 2021 (UPDATED)

As 2021 roles in the scale model manufacture community roles out the red carpet for newness.  11 new models with 2 re-releases, all in 1:18 scale cement some solid examples from AUTOart to come.  An absolute must is the McLaren Speedtail.  Those late to market with expensive and sealed versions, too bad!  Nice to see the Lexus LFA going back into production, and we’re excited to see the new exterior colour ‘Passionate Pink’.  Again, this reinforcing patience within the community, as good examples in scale usually come back.

There are a few missed opportunities from Lamborghini though, no mention of Lamborghini Terzo Millennio or Sián FKP 37 delivery date!  We’ll update this article with photos and new models as announced.  Enjoy!

  1. flathead says:

The C8 is welcome news. Maybe it will feature a removable roof this time, unlike AA’s C7.

  2. Tomcatters says:

The Sian has already been announced last year. Or did you mean missed chance by not showing any new production pics? (AA 79191)

    There are 3 re-releases btw:
    Skyline R34 Z-Tune
    Veneno
    LFA

LFA is a very pleasant surprise. Can’t wait!

  3. Karsten says:

Interesting here is that there is absolutely nothing on the list that interests me. I would want a Bugatti 330+. I have pre-ordered a Bugatti EB110 SS, a DBS Superleggera, a Ford Raptor and a Lambo Diablo, all missing from the list. Cancelled?

  4. MLB says:

Absolutely nothing of interest for me here… And very surprising that the Aston Martin DB4GT shown here awhile ago is NOT on this 2021 list.

  5. dcmanno says:

Just to clarify the F-1 Mclaren MP4/6 without / with MARLBORO logo? (factory listing mess-up?)

    • FormulaRace says:

I think the listing is kinda correct…

I think the two versions are a) with non-tobacco ‘McLaren’ logo (probabaly ‘barcode’) livery…and b) just blank – no ‘Mclaren’ logo (if you want to apply your own Marlboro decals)

It was the similar with the AutoArt Lotus 99t.

  6. George K says:

    Agreed. Nothing here of interest.

    • Robert Poudrette says:

Speak for yourselves, the only things that really are of NO interest whatsoever are both your comment and MLB’s. Others might interested by these models.

      • MLB says:

Robert… What is your problem? Everyone including you is entitled to their opinion. I am well aware that “others” are interested in these models, BUT you need to understand and realize that on the flip side there also people who are not interested. I highly doubt that anyone else who reads the comments here has any interest in reading certain unwarranted negative comments such as yours. By the way, some manufacturers actually do look at the comments on this site to help them see how their models are received good & bad, etc. etc…. and they do need to know.

        • Roberto says:

I agree with Robert, no need for all the comments saying “Not Interested”. Those are the negative comments. I am always excited to see new Auto Art releases and if I am excited about certain models I will say so, and if I am not, i’ll just keep quiet. What Auto Art and other companies look at are actual model sales, not complainers on the internet.

          • MLB says:

Roberto…. also if you do not agree with someones comment, you could also do just what you said and NOT take it any further, and to use your words: “…. i’ll just keep quiet.” Debates, opinions, and freedom of speech are important. Robert chose not to do that, and in a manner that was not necessary to the right thing to do.
AND as I previously wrote: “….some manufacturers actually do look at the comments on this site to help them see how their models are received good & bad, etc. etc…. and they do need to know.” I am also in the the model industry as a full time business consultant, model manufacturer, etc. (for over 35 years), not on the sidelines. AA and other companies ACTUALLY DO look at more than just just sales. There is NO need for anyone to throw stones.

      • John Smith says:

Completely agree with you, Robert. I am actually very pleased and content with the aforementioned offerings. If the manufacturers do indeed browse forum-goers’ comments on sites like this, I would like them to know I am very satisfied with the models offered. In fact, I was happily going to purchase the Pur Sport, Sian, and SVJ pieces by MR Collection for a considerable sum much greater than what will likely be listed for Autoart’s counterparts. Knowing Autoart is introducing these to the market means I will be saving a lot of money and still getting the models I was longing for, even if not as high quality. So, very excited for the recent news.

      • Paul says:

I agree with what Robert says, i too find some of the models interesting and others not. The wrong thing about George’s comment is that he talks as if there wasn’t anything of interest for anyone here and thats not true. Next time speak for yourself and not for everyone. If Autoart really looks at this comments they will get the wrong impression just because of this type of comments which doesn’t represent all the collectors, it’s just a personal opinion. I’m really looking forward to getting the SC18, the Pur Sport and the Speedtail.

        • George K says:

My comment was personal to me. As a collector of some of the best, over decades of time, I certainly have the right and the experience to opine on the latest from AutoArt. I have fallen under the spell of a few of their “composite” models, only to box them back up and put them away 5 minutes after having them delivered. The lightness of the construction, the decals in lieu of tampoed graphics, the toy-like depiction of engines just holds no interest any longer, especially at the current prices. Allow some of us to have our negative comments. That’s what a dialogue is all about.

      • Roger Lodge says:

I’m going to have to agree with the ones calling out the “nothing interests me” people. You’ve added nothing to the dialogue and quite frankly, no one cares, including the manufacturer. I get the feeling that some of you think by making these trite comments that you will somehow move the needle on what these manufacturers produce, but bear in mind that manufactures rightly don’t give a dang about your singular desires since you obviously don’t represent a majority opinion.

Comments that are on the opposite in of the spectrum that say “must have” and express unbridled enthusiasm with not much else to offer are also trite, but at least they aren’t insipid.

  7. JIMMY says:

Disappointed not to see an a90 Supra

Since they’re making Dodge Challengers now, wished they’d make a current Dodge Charger as well

Only thing on that list that I might get is the Toyota Century GRMN

  8. CL says:

Really appreciate Autoart’s strategy here, re releasing in off-colour variations to preserve the rarity and uniqueness of the first run examples. I much prefer my pure white LFA without the carbon accents. This way they get to please both sides – the original buyers get to hold onto something special of value, and those who missed out get another shot- albeit at some cost to originality.

    • Gonçalo Freitas says:

I really don’t get it. I think the carbon accents was avaiable in dealer editions that were a lot more expensive, and to me this carbon spec is much more appealing. I have this full white model, I don’t care with the speculative value. This way of thinking that this hobby is an investiment will kill it! The prIces are increasing a lot, the models are getting worse and if the producers don’t sell it at the speculative price, we will have huge sales to clear the stock. The way this hobby is going is also because a lot of collectors think they are investors. All I want in this hobby is good models with fair prices.

  9. Veneno says:

    Are they all Composite?

  10. Pi Liu says:

If Autoart adopts composite materials, we hope the details and quality are better than Diecast’s, otherwise it is meaningless.

I don’t think the details of MP4/6 are satisfactory enough. It’s far worse than Tamiya’s products.

Autoart has launched so many new products this time, which has dealt a blow to unscrupulous businessmen and is conducive to the healthy development of the industry.

  11. Kasra says:

I’m new to this hobby. What does usually happen to the old sold-out ones and their inflated prices when their remakes step into the market? Take R34 for example, The remake is most likely composite but it’s newer and may be better executed. How does this affect the old ones?

    • Tomcatters says:

Hard to say really, but most of the time the old models will not drop in prices because collectors still think that Diecast>>>>>>>>>>>Composite.

Logic does often not apply in this hobby (I am guilty of this myself sometimes :D ).

For example: The original AA Diecast DeLorean is highly expensive, going for as much as 700$ or so. The Composite release looks closer to the real DeLorean, but it’s still nowhere near as sought after. I imagine this will stay true for the R34 and LFA as well (Veneno not so much, you can still get the original Release for a good price if you’re patient).

  12. Stéphane Demers says:

I heard rumors about Aa producing again the McLaren F1 street car, anything about that?

    • DS Team says:

We cannot confirm, BUT based on history this would be a perfect candidate to go into production again. BE PATIENCE, and don’t be tempted by ridiculous asking g prices by some.

      • Stéphane Demers says:

Yeah they are asking USD $1000 over eBay that’s a shame… I wouldn’t mind paying $300-$400 for it but not much really and $400 is the very max amount :/

  13. Viert says:

How can I pre-order? I’ve never preordered any Aa model but I’m guessing the Senna’s McLaren will sell out immediately.

  14. Mamão says:

As a F1 Champions collector fan i would say the MP4/6 shown here is the best model at market so far. Way superior to TSM (whit all cover gaps problems) and the sealed Minichamps. The Honda engine is better replicated than TSM too. For sure i’ll go for it.

  15. Imran says:

I really like the look of the Mclaren MP4/6. I have the Minichamps version and the TSM version but the Autoart one looks fantastic. I have the diecast LFA, which I think is a supermodel. I am looking forward to seeing the composite model and seeing the differences in fidelity and accuracy. Hopefully, we can make an objective assessment of both models back to back. There has been a lot of AA bashing of late. I have just bought the Pangani Roadster and the Koenigsegg Regera. They were nowhere near as bad as people have been making out. That said I still hanker after diecast and hope that AA will perhaps reissue some older diecast models in the future.
