GreenLight Collectibles Latest Fords

We’re not sure who is really interested in scale more station wagons from the late seventies and eighties but GreenLight believes there are some!  Two models both in 1:18 scale will be released later this year.  The first is the 1979 Ford LTD Country Squire as featured in Terminator 2 movie.  The second, a 1985 Mercury Grand Marquis Colony Park -in exterior Burgundy.  Models feature diecast exterior with limited access.

I love what Greenlight is doing. These cars bring variety into the sea of Super and Muscle cars, which I find to be boring. It’s cool to have like one Lamborghini Huracan and one 1970 Dodge Charger, but when companies produce dozens of variants of each car (in Autoart’s case, probably hundreds of Lamborghini’s) it gets stale really fast. I get that companies like to use the told excuse of tooling costs and all that, but I just take my money and move onto other companies like Greenlight, who dare to be different and produce things that have actually.. never been produced in 1:18 before (I know right, a new concept that perhaps others should follow!). I love having a collection of cars that differs from having just Lamborghini’s, Ferrari’s and Porsche’s. It’s like eating different ice cream flavors. My only wish is that Greenlight goes even deeper and starts producing even more obscure models. Would love to have a sedan version of this car (which most certainly means a police version as well). Maybe even a 1983 Dodge Caravan! But I will be buying the rusted version. I already have the NYPD Crown Vic wagon

I mean MAYBE if it was the Vista Cruiser from That 70’s Show.

    Maybe……

  3. Sac says:

I would buy both in a jiffy. I go for these out of the way models.

I agree that Greenlight is doing a fantastic job bringing 1/18s to market that nobody else can seem to be bothered with. While these wagons aren’t my jam (truly looking forward to an MIB black Crown Vic sedan!!!), I’m more excited that these are being made than the 700th variation of whatever Lamborghini is putting out now. I have exactly one Lamborghini in my collection; an orange Autoart Miura. Nothing AA puts out now interests me in the least. I don’t begrudge those who are collecting those, that’s what makes this hobby so great is the variety. But, Greenlight seems more dedicated to VARIETY. I truly look forward to what GL is releasing and I’m always happy they’re doing what they’re doing.
