AUTOart presents another option in exterior and interior colouring for their example of the 1:18 Aston Martin DBS Superleggera, this one is noted as Lightning Silver. The exterior is gorgeous! Not far behind is the unique interior Blue interior. Definitely making me rethink my current selection of the Black! This model is set to arrive in November, likely December for those of us in North America.

I am shocked by this interior. Is it really AutoArt? Is it the same AutoArt who prefers different tinges of grey in the interior of most of its models?!

I agree, the lightning silver seems to be a very nice colour for the Autoart DBS SL and really brings out the beautiful exterior lines of the model car. Perhaps this colour is also a little bit exaggerated and complimented by the pro photo shoot’s lighting conditions.
Anyway, I think that the lightning silver a very good choice for this model car, but as a 2nd choice behind the magnetic silver, which for me is still the ideal colour for the DBS SL.
Looks great but one important thing is missing- tactility of a proper metal diecast! These purely visual pleasures of ABS autoarts are skin-deep, or rather “sight-deep”, as the moment the model is picked up or finger-tapped, it is found out for what it really is, which is a plastic toy that in hand feels as cheap as any other plastic toy! ‘Tis as a fake Birkin bag- looks a thousand bucks but feels like cheapo shxxt and once you felt it and know it, there is no way of un-knowing it!! That’s why I chose to not buy any ABS autoart, as I inevitably get buyer’s remorse of not getting all it was promised to be – I tried but ended up returning the models I bought. I think I am not alone in my sentiment, though there are also plenty of omnivores who will eat any shxxt that is seducyively placed in from of ’em… Cheers!
