PHOTO GALLERY: GT Spirit Jeep Gladiator Rubicon

One thing as America as apple pie is America trucks!  A recent release from GT Spirit saw the 1:18 Jeep Gladiator Rubicon in the exterior Gobi with Black accents come to scale.  A unique colour for sure, and a model limited to only 999 pieces worldwide.  The truck is a cross between the ever-popular Jeep series and standard American-style pickups of the day.  We like it!

As for the model, GT Spirit seems to always go a little bit above and beyond for truck-related examples, no exception here.  The exterior details are pretty darn good and the painted exterior along with Black accents bits do hit the mark!  Where the resin and sealed design do show their limitations are in the suspension workings.  There is very little detail available as the close-up side profile view from the front tire will show, this is also mirrored on the underside of the model.  We’ll highlight their 1:18 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon soon as well.  Enjoy the pics!

C’mon man. This thing is really nothing more than an overpriced toy.

Some would apply your statement to all scale models.

Not really. The great replicas like a hand made model from CMC or Exoto, are like delicate pieces of art, almost akin to a mechanical watch. The work and thought needed to get even the simplest and smallest parts to fit and work is incredible.
Models like this Jeep are really just a few pieces of extruded plastic, with 4 wheels slapped on. It’s not a fine replica. It’s really just a toy that you’d roll around on the floor.
